Might need a block. Anybody got one they haven't used as a boat anchor yet ?

Needs to be 1993-1995. Anything newer won't work for me.

Had a small crack in a lifter valley - drove us nuts trying to figure the problem out. Finally took the whole engine to the machine shop.

Well, I think have this figured out. If Larry wasn't so far away I might have taken that, but thats a lot of clicks (both travel and engine), and Scottys crate would prolly break the bank. Thanks to both just the same, I appreciate it.

Question for you Jack. Where was your crack in the valley just for interest sake ?

I used blueing ink on this last week when I got it back, and damn if doesn't look like a deep intentional scratch. I was told the crank had to go under, but I polished it (old school style) and decided it would be good. Took it to another machinist last Thursday and he said it will be fine with a polish up. Prolly pick it up tomorrow or Wednesday.

I have the holes all ridge reamed and honed out nice with my old reliables and the block/heads are painted pretty and new frost plugs/drain plugs everywhere. So far, everything is well within specs. I wasn't gonna go overbore and new pistons for any reason on this. I'd have been to Larrys before that.

I did a clean and valve grind on the heads. They are fine. I hope this 'maybe' crack doesn't bite me in the behind after all this. Gonna wheel it down again and re-blue, but I don't see anything that will be a problem.

It was running fine before we decided to 'body job' the truck, so um, you know....

I don't have cell phone or camera, but neighbour does, so I'll try and get a few pics for ya'all.

It was 25 yrs ago so memory is a little sketchy. On one side just up from a couple of lifter bores. Could not see it til maged - then loomed fairly long & not very wide.
