So the Ontario Conservatives are buying votes by cutting license fees as of March this year.

Wonder what programs will be cut and what assets will be sold and what user fees wil

l be enacted to cover the billion dollar a year loss to the government. In my family 4kids+spouces

+grandkids + my own collection I count 14 vehicles and over $1,600 yearly into the economy. Even though

we still have to register every year and even though Service Ontario handles other things

I wonder how many jobs will be cut in Ontario. A be careful what you wish for situation I think as it will

cost us big time in the future. Ed

The costs of administering the program will still be there
because we will still have to register our vehicles every
year. So the costs associated with administering the program
will still be there . How is this a savings to the Province? Ed

I wonder if we will still get a sticker, or is it the honour system? If no sticker, I think a lot of dummies will let their insurance lapse, causing all kinds of grief for others when an accident happens.

I'm sure they will have a "red flag" system for those that don't go in and "renew for free: & show proof of insurance if it's not already in place in police cars computers?? Yes we will get "hit" HARD somewhere else to make up for lost revenue and lets hope they don't drop road maintenance or make all driving a TOLL FEE!

Evidently some of the supposed savings are to go to buy those scanners for
the cop car that read passing plates . I am guessing big fines for no front plate
or plate in the wrong place when these are more widespread. Ed

your on the right track i think, lets see how it unfolds maybe. most if not all those service ontario joints are all under contract with one major player and there might be a lot of expensive leases coming due sort of thing. this just might be a start of a bunch of changes, my guess. they definitely have the tech today to fine tune the system no doubt.  i got pulled over downtown kingston taking a buddy down for a doc appt a couple of weeks ago for no front plate on the caddy, and when i got out of the car with the plate on the broken bracket that was the end of it. told him the new bracket is on back order and he said you are good to go, he was just looking for the plate. when we left i said to my buddy that was too easy not wanting any insurance or driver license stuff and some other questions no doubt.  he knew who he should be stopping before they stopped me and i fit the bill.  kingston is usually a pretty tight town with all the prisons around there.

when they stop a car now they are hooked into the insurance data real time for each plate to what vehicle it is registered to.  times are changing and going to change faster with this e-v rollout coming out along with the 5-g infrastructure up and fully installed. times are changing no doubt.  out west speeding is controlled under contract and i guess they are saving a ton with a lot less cops in court on expensive overtime stuff.

May be a trade off for eye exams seeing they are close to a deal. Optometrists who have not had a raise in 35 years were to have had a deal Feb. 1. But the Ford government asked for an extension and was to have had an update yesterday. Will have to see if they are tied together by canceling seniors and kids checkups some way. Just me thinking out loud.

Well something either now or down the road is got to
go because you just don't loose a billion dollars a year
without something to replace it. Ed

in hindsight ED a billion bucks is a cheap vote getter compared to the multi-multi and still counting billions wynne blew with her start at .70 cent plus kw hr for wind and solar power contracts. it is an average day when a single billion bucks is considered a bit of a deal if that is all your going to lose. buddy it is sad to say but you and me won't live long enough to see that hole filled in. well me anyway, lol.

this is showing my age but, i can remember back in the late 50's, early 60's in low school yakking and wishing for a million bucks with your friends at the time. back then you would be set for the rest of your life living in the lap of luxury, in our minds. today it would barely buy you a nice house.

If you were over 65 or if you have government coverage like kids do you were out of luck. They were on strike and not taking anyone with government coverage. That is over now that the government said they would seriously negotiate. It is against the law for them to take cash if you have government coverage is why she cut you short.

Now this is POSSIBLY only temporary if Ford stops negotiating reasonably optometrist will go back on strike as they are well past the deadline.
I am still wondering how Ford is going to balance the budget with the pandemic massive cost + no licence cost where is the cash going to come from to pay for Fords paycheck.

How about the millions in fines to the 407 he let go. I would like to see
where all this money he is saving us is going because its not going into
healthcare or education. Oh ya there is that highway413 that nobody
but his doners want. Liberals waste, concertives waste,NDP not ready to
run a government. Are there no real politicans out there that care more
for the people and less about there party? Who the hell do we vote for? Ed

i don't know if we will be seeing a balanced budget anytime soon with all the holes covid punched into our wrinkle farms, aka retirement homes and it wouldn't matter who was running the joint. times are a going to be changing i would guess. where its going right now has a lot depending on this ukerain ordeal, covid in its different forms, high inflation and the american economy. like it or not we are tied to their money belt.
