Anyone hear about Ford is going to implement safety's every two years??? I guess this will replace renewing your licence. This will really hurt the rat rods that were built before the safety inspection changes a few years ago. If true will not be official until after elections.

And who do you think this is going to benefit? The percentage of derelict vehicles on the road is negligible. We already have the police and MTO pulling vehicles over for suspected safety violations and besides they discontinued smog tests because the bulk of the vehicles on the road today are newer and not causing problems. I would be more comfortable with this proposal if it came from MADD, a group personally I don't trust rather then the only group who will profit from the initial inspection and the conned sale of parts.

We already discussed this a while ago.  The company that provided the equipment for Drive Clean won a contract to provide equipment to every inspection station in Ontario, complete with tablets to capture pictures for Safety Inspectons.  It will be rolled out to the HDV facilities this year and once its up and running, they will be implimenting LDV inspections using the same process.  I believe its a bi-annual not annual for passenger vehicles.  The MTO guy Bob Lickers talked about this during his seminar when they introduced the new safety standards a couple of years back.  I on't really think its a bad thing, they gave us the new standards years ago so we had lots of time to prepare for them.  This is the new standard that must be met in Ontario.

There are about 13M vehicles registered in Ontario. Where are all these inspections going to be done? Do you think there are enough Canadian Tires or enough certified inspectors to handle 6.5M inspections a year?
