AACA Lindsay Swap meet is coming up soon

Anyone going to the Lindsay swap meet? They went to a new date seeing it was cold and rain the last two years they hosted it. Should be better weather being a month later the end of May now.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               I sold my original big block 1966 Biscayne post car to a fellow that came all the way from Nova Scotia. Then when a guy tells me it is too far seeing he has to drive from west of Toronto. I tell them they are in the wrong hobby seeing you do not like to drive very far.                                                                                                                          I have 4 vending spots and may only use one of they and put up a caution tape 2 meters around my chair. Plus have a sign requiring a mask is mandatory on this vending site. A picture of my spot the last time there so you can understand the date change a little better. 2017-05-04 lindsay flea 2017 001.JPG

Part of my introduction to this obsession called hot rods was my first swap meet which happened to be in Lindsay, an event I have since referred to as 'The Mud Fest'. It was a day of freezing rain and muck so deep that we refused to venture down some aisles in fear of not making it back. Your photo doesn't do it justice.

So Cuddles you understand why they moved to the end of May. Giving more time for the ground to dry up from the winter weather and less chance of rain and snow. If it is hot at the end of the day the beer tent will be busier than it would have been in April.

I have my sites booked ..... I've been there in the snow, rain, mud, wind and the odd hot day...
we finally moved a few yrs ago to higher ground .... our isle still got pretty muddy , but the tractor was there to get everyone through it...
personally I drink so much it doesn't matter what the weather is like,  as long as I get away from work for a few days... it's all good.

I was up vending and had the Grandville in show car area, Sat & Sun. Tons of people on Saturday but sales were poor. Sun crowds weren't there, think a lot came after church just to "look" as we didn't sell a thing & next vendor sold 1 item. But we had lots of laughs!! Was interesting just to "people watch" as the crowd passed by, we had lots or car & trailer parts but maybe just no interest????? Sat. & Sunday weather was excellent!!!!!!

Yes Pete Sunday was a bust for sales seeing I only sold 2 things. But Saturday was fantastic for my 47 to 87 Chevy truck parts.
I think the date move was a good change seeing it rained for the most of two days before it opened and there was no mud Saturday.

Another thing I was told by Gasket City was Model T head gaskets are no longer available. They stopped manufacturing them for lack of demand. I have been also trying to get tires for another car for half a year and no luck yet. Seeing Coker has decided to manufacture my tire size only when they get enough orders not wanting to keep inventory they told me.

The hobby is going to go through some changes I do not like.

Hey Joe
I've been waiting for Excelsiors from Coker for two months and they are saying late July. Not in a great hurry, I have the 16" wheels ready to go but all that will happen after the car is off the road.

One good thing I did was get all the dust washed off the stuff that's been in my trailer for 3 yrs,,,, the sun came out and dried it all off so I put 90% of it back in for the next show
I did sell a bunch of low buck stuff on Saturday until 3pm... after that Nothing....

Ohh well, I got to talk to some people I haven't seen for a while and a couple life long stories too.

Do not count on what they say as I am on my 3 delivery date now with the first being March then July now August. . The guy told me they will build some tires when they get enough orders in.

was just what I needed. I had a great weekend with my buddies
sold some stuff, bought some stuff ,met a bunch of new interesting
people. Most of all I just plain had fun, something that has been missing
for the last couple years. Already booked for next year. Ed

I got the best vending spot this year in Lindsay I have ever had anywhere and have been vending since 1981. My new spot this year has running water plus 110 and 220 hydro no less. How can you beat that.
