I have an all original 1940 Pontiac Arrow with a 3 on the tree. I'm looking to swap out the transmission to an automatic. The motor in it right now is a 224 from what I understand. The engine number is 2798257. Has anyone got any experience with that? I appreciate any help. Thanks

Pretty sure in 1940, there was not automatic available for those cars, so if you do manage to mate an auto to your engine, it's not going to be original anymore. Your best bet in my mind would be to put a later model 6 cyl in it with an auto and later steering column.
