Practically everyone here is using a nick name ,but does your car or truck have one?

I ask because I've been watching a show that the guy from Hot Rod magazine comes up with some very clever ones for the vehicles on the show.

I have yet to get one for my  51 1300 Chevy ... Well my buddy calls it "Gangreen"  just because it's an old rusty green farm truck that has a bunch of his race car parts in it and it sounds pretty nasty.

What's yours?

My delivery is called "Marvin" after my favorite cartoon character. We
had a 54 NewYorker called "Mrs Butler"with respect to the nice lady
who owned it before us. My first hotrod was simply called"The 52"
due to it being a52 Pontiac. A lot are named for favorite songs as well.
Another fun part of our hobby. Ed

I bought a '66 Studebaker off an old girl. Her name was Molly.
I had her name made into a pink vinyl sticker and put it on the passenger door.

CURSE is my 69 El Camino, well, because she's cursed. Everything needed to fixed when I got her.

My 41 Chrysler is TOMBSTONE.

BC613E5C-09BD-4DE9-993E-66B74CCA99CD.jpegWhat is the name of the show ? Where do you get vinyl stickers made ? Some names are unique enough to really add to the ride. Mine came easy. It suits my ride because it's a rat rod, because scar tissue is likely common to auto enthusiasts but mostly because after Abbey died (my collie), I moped for a year. I needed purpose. When I saw this roller for sale on the net one morning, I thought it my keep my head and my hands occupied. I was right but either way, I never sleep anymore. On the up side, I am meeting a world of the nicest people I have ever known, most from this site.

Hey Cuddles,
The name of the show is roadkill or another is roadkill garage there is another called faster with Finnigan... All 3 shows have 1 of the 2 guys in them...
You need to watch the shows to get why they name the cars what they do... Unlike most "reality tv" These ones are believable.

Thank you 30-S6. We only get 2 channels but maybe I can watch them online. I will check. I enjoy looking for interesting plates too. I was behind a new mustang last year and the plates read 'GIDEYUP'.

yes, i have 2 with names and both have a story to the name.
the 50 ford in my avatar is my Billy truck and it is the one that gets the most use. i inherited it from a very good old friend of mine from the old truck driving days and had helped with the build since it came to canada about 35 years ago from kansas with a flat head in it. he put a 5lt h/o power train from a 1989 g-t mustang with mustang 2 steering and front suspension. i brought it up from new brunswick after his passing in 2010 and was contemplating putting his c/b handle somewhere on it but decided against that idea as his handle was Mid-night Toker, so now it is my Billy truck and obviously his name was Bill. lol
my 70 chevelle is called Stoner after my bud Rick Stoner who owns Westech Performance. he built the 572 dart engine that is in it at his shop in L.A. and the motor was featured on the front page of Engine Masters titled, Mega Motor 572 cu in--825 hp on pump gas back in 2011. me and a bud flew down for the photo shoot and dyno test for the mag and had the opportunity to meet Steve Dulcich and watch him work with Steve Brule at westech for 2 or 3 days, he was covering the story for engine masters at the time. lmao-lol thought about putting a personal lic plate on it back in the day titled Stoner after my bud Rick, but decided against that for obvious reasons lol, now it is just nick named my stoner car.

Truthfully it is very few times i take one for a drive and not thank either one of them for the ride.

I have four cars, the bantam, the Studebaker wagon, the Model A pickup and the Model A hot rod. Only one has a nick name and the is the hot rod called 'Dog Spit'. Just after I had finished painting the car, a few of us were sitting around the back yard having a refreshment. My Irish Wolfhound was in the garden eating plants when she suddenly kind of thew up. One of the guys mentioned that her spit up was the same color as my car. Dog Spit!!!! I loved it and it stuck. Ten years later it still wears the vanity plates with pride.
My all time fav is a plate I saw many years ago before Vanity Plates were available, but you could special order a plate as long as it consisted of three letters followed by three numbers. It read TWO 469 Don't even know how they got away with it.

Another car I had was a pile that I got from a buddy for a winter beater... I paid $100 for it it need a door, an alternator and a rubber safety.. our paint supplier gave me a gallon of muddy grey/brown paint... so I banged out the body job in a weekend and drove it for 6 months. in the spring I sold it for $500. Honestly I cant even remember if I checked the oil in it.

Two door 1986 Pontiac Grand am.... The car was so ugly we called it the shiny brown "Gem".
I remember going through the carwash one day and the water was shooting into the back seat from around the quarter windows.

It's amazing what we did and survived to tell about it, some of our cars should not have been driven...

Good fun memories though.

Alright ED, you got me, lol, who was/is Marvin?  Without asking google i am thinking a mouse. If it was an old one we didn't get all lot of channels in the boonies, 2 or 3 stations. And on the hand if it something new in the last 30 yrs plus yrs, likely noy either.  Something tells me a mouse and inquiring minds want to know.

Good one bud but truthfully i think it more of a plural word with an 's.  lmao   The only 2 i am keeping for sure have a name for a personal connection and the other 2 will likely remain nameless and/or expendable.    lol

Marvin was a cartoon . Marvin The Martian, Always trying to destroy the earth
with his little robot dog (yup you guessed it ) K9. Bugs Bunny usually saved
the day. Marvin's tag line when things went wrong was "You Are Making Me Very Angry"
Exactly how I felt sometimes building the Delivery when things went sideways
so I thought it a perfect name for the 55. Makes people laugh and say they
remember that guy, from when they were kids, when they see the stickers. Ed

I have referred to my car as 58ODDITY

seeing that Chevrolet decided to make most of the parts one offs for the 1958 car line up, and some even within the 58 line up IE some Imapla HT / Rag top parts do not work with Sedan/Wagons.
