I have a 1G Ford Mustang alternator. I finally sorted out where the wires are supposed to go but I don't know what size wires. I need to run 4 wires from my regulator and some are 14 and 16 gauge I think but one might be a thicker wire. I'm not sure. I am trying to do this right and avoid a future fire.
I think I figured it out. I think 14 gauge will be ok from A on my regulator to the battery. And 14 for the stator to the S on my regulator. The F and the I can be 16 gauge I think.
Both sources show a junction or ammeter between the battery and the A on the regulator. Is a junction of some kind a must ? I don't have an ammeter.
Do you mean to mount on the dash or an ampmeter as a tool ? And forgive my ignorance please but will a 8 or 10 gauge wire fit into the little clips for the voltage regulator ? (F S A I). It's the voltage regulator I am trying to wire properly. The line drawings I found so far said 12-14 and 14-16. Thank you all.
This is the page where wiring gauge is shown for two of the wires from the alternator to the regulator: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/help-wiring-ford-alternator.1005454/
