6 volt to 12 volt starter

Maybe I am forgetting something again but if I convert my generator from 6 volt to 12 volt, I think I have to find a new starter also - maybe.

At least according to this video, I do -

Who sells 12 volt starters for a 42 Ford flathead ?  (probably another stupid question)0FC2EC14-EFFD-4A6B-8912-06E383D5F105.jpeg

Years ago I converted my 1951 Ford truck with a flathead to 12v ran the 6 v starter for years with no problem was still going strong when I sold the truck. First time I started the truck after the conversion I was cranking away and it didn't seem to be firing up. Gave up and released the starter button engine rpm slowed down and low and behold its running. After that only a quick tap of the starter button was needed to start the old truck.

The one thing I should of done was replace the vacuum wiper motor. Every time I put my foot into the throttle the wipers would quit....like when pulling out to pass another vehicle.

Miss that old truck was fun to drive but was to slow on the highways in stock form.

I put Newport electric wipers in the '37 Ford.
They have kits for everything.

I will write these tips down in my book. I am going to take my generator to Belleville to switch to an alternator and keep my starter as is. Good tip for the wipers. Thank you both.

I think I have a wiper motor in a box in the garage. (unless I gave it to a friend). Friends in need come first. Sad part is, right after giving him all my spare stuff, he sold his ride and my stuff. Bummer. But I might have kept the wiper motor just in case before I got the truck. Funny how scrounging in the garage can be exciting.
