Chris Stapley was kind enough to give me a small section of railway steel and 3 burned out angle grinders later, I made this. It was fun to make but took a while. Still waiting for my 7" Makita to come back from the shop. I guess I have to lighten my touch a bit. Glad I made it and thank you Chris.
I was a bit silly. I needed a much bigger drill bit for the Hardy hole so I was filing for days. I should have just driven to town and bought one. But it was fun to make and turned out as planned. Sure inhaled a lot of dust though. Looking forward to making another big one some day. They sure get a lot of use. Thanks guys.
(For 58Chevy) If you wear a mask and goggles, the goggles fog up. But I can't go without safety glasses so I chose not to wear the goggles. I inhaled a lot of black. But I can still see clearly. Just so you know what you're in for. Or you can spend $200 for a full face mask and filter. I will someday but first. comes parts.
I get a lot of use out of an anvil but mostly, I just enjoy working with metal (and wood and plastic). I am anxious to start working with resin but too many projects right now. Maybe over winter. Thank you again Chris.
Before I finished the hardy hole, I watched this video by Karl Fisher (Jap Hands - Make It Kustom ) and started making a shaping tool right away. Find it at 33:20 minutes into the video. It just fits in a vice but looked really handy so I made that first. Now I have to make some more for the hardy hole. Karl Fisher and rat rod Bob and Garage Fab are my 3 favourite video sources for learning.
