If Oliver Wendel Douglas can do it, so can I. (lol)
Thank you Jarvis. I will check out Simple Green. (and the break cleaner)
I just wondered what everyone else usually works in.
My clothes start as nice stuff, then work clothes, then depending on what it is, become rags or garbage. I have 2 sets of pants and shirts that are garage only stuff. That way no one complains about my work clothes having oil stains on them.
I am getting a bit of flak lately about getting grease and oil on my clothes thaat I am told doesn't come out.
I guess the monkey suit would work but at my age, when I have to pee, I HAVE to pee. I can't see me getting out of that outfit in time.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you
- Ok, Jim, been there done that and this is I handled it. Once- twice a year I go down to sally ann and buy some re-tread cloth's for the shop, their next step is rags and then gone.
Actually guys, I think I found the answer. I will order a shop smock. They range in price from about $12 to whatever. I'll get the cheap $12 one from Amazon because it sounds like they are all of a very thin fabric. But then I'll hit a fabric shop for a better cloth and copy the pattern and make my own.
I did my roof and seats so I might as well do the work smock.
I have the ability to walk into the garage on my way to town and pause for a moment to do whatever on the car and end up with another grease line running down my T-shirt shoulder. Not hard to take but the flak when I get inside the house isn't worth it.
I figure a smock is quick and easy to slide on and off and worth the effort to make if it turns out I need to.
Work naked ? Hmm, if I had an apprentice of 36, 24, 36 and she works naked, then I would too.
Thank you everyone. Educational and amusing.
I ended up getting a $47 smock with 4 pockets and 2 slits to acess my pants pockets. Fits nice but most important, snaps for buttons so easy on & off so I can slip it on for those moments when I'm just going to 'tinker' for a minute before we go out to dinner. It only comes in navy blue so it shouldn't look too dirty all the time. Has a sort of split in the back so it doesn't pull when leaning over. And it came quickly in the mail. Should do the job nicely. Hope this helps somebody.
In Barrie there is a place called 400 flea market , its like a large indoor flea market . All kindsa vendors . There is a guy in there that sell used work uniforms , pants shirts over alls cover alls shop coats etc . Find a place like that . but what ever size suits you , then take them to a laundramat when they get dirty or just go buy more . It makes me giggle when people call you by the name tag on the shirts
