What ever happened to the Hydrochrome systems?

Not that long ago, the spray on hydro-chrome system was the latest and proposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. What happened to it all? The system and the people involved in it seemed to have vanished. I would have to guess the cost got out of hand, or the durability of the finish just wasn't there. There was a business northeast of Tillsonburg....I think in  Otterville, that started a 'spray-on chroming' business. I got to talk to someone on the phone about it, and was looking to have some interior plastic parts done on some restoration projects for our body shop. Was told they weren't quite ready to take on any outside work just yet, but would get back to me. The whole deal just faded away and nothing came of it. Seems like everyone else that got involved and started a business with it had the same, or similar results...and vanished as well. Was it all hype, and smoke and mirrors? Did anyone actually get anything 'chromed'? And if so...what was the outcome? A few of us were shooting the breeze and this topic came up...so now I'm curious to hear if anyone knows what happened.

I know of a lad in Vancouver that spent $25,000 on a system.
A complete loss of money as the product is almost useless.
I think...it uses silver nitrate? or something. Like the stuff that goes
on the back of a mirror. Not real chrome.
Same as model car chrome.
It may be good for something that does not go outside.
