I took my42 in to a reputable shop to have the brakes done because they have always been soft and squishy. They advised that I get a new master cylinder so I did and they installed it and --- the breaks are still soft and squishy. I have to pump them to get a secure stop. Screwed if I ever have an emergency stop. ANy advice might be helpful. I kept the old master cylinder because it clearly was no worse than the new one. The shop said to bring it in again and they would look at it again. Screw that ! Too darn expensive for a 'maybe' fix.

If it came to my shop I'd be starting by pulling all the wheels to check everything.
It something is worn or broken inside you will never get a good pedal even if you been till Christmas.
NO, I wouldn't take any ones word that it's fine. I played that game to long, I know better.

Is the master under the cab?
Wondering if the master was bench bled?
Are you using drums or disks?
Is the master designed for the type of system you have? drum/drum, drum/disk, disk/disk
The master is under the cab and drum brakes all around. I will have them bled again - some day. Shouldn't put it off, I know. When it comes to brakes, I don't trust my inexperience to fix so important an issue and can't find a shop I trust.
Sounds like you're right back to square 1 and bringing it back to the shop to have their technician trouble shoot your problem.
Glad to see people on here guiding others
I too like to have a close friend who I pay well to help or at least check over my work when I'm unsure .
