Neutral safety switch

I have a C4 transmission in a 66 mustang.  I have one thing left to do to finish my wiring.  I hooked up a rear view monitor and it works when I am in neutral, not when I am in reverse.  Please advise.  My ride is currently up on blocks.  Thank you in advance.

I'd just add a normally open micro switch with a bracket that will contact the shift mechanism when the shifter is placed in to reverse..Power in to the switch ( fused) on one side, wire the opposite side so it powers the backup function on your camera when it contacts.

One of these magnetic switches might be the easiest to mount and make contact, they work when the two "meet" each other in alignment and make a magnetic connection. Same style switch they use in alarm systems that you'd typically see on a store or home door ,when you open the door you lose contact. You'd set these two halves up to meet each other when the shifter is in the reverse position only, making a complete circuit to liven the camera! https://www.amazon.ca/Magnetic-Normally-Waterproof-Switchs-System%EF%BC%882/dp/B0F2F99Q2C/ref=sr_1_9?crid=1JUCSMUCP6ZVA&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.uotn5owAenP3RzB4oeimTl5BU3F7fMzLa4aoiohENmJJJ3QMkdzlhyRQ5Kb1O6rEfCjladQ8LlWaaxBUb5F3VGSqhDMTHM6hOhmXveVfb2UpiSjT5ssWS4vCerbMR9Gj6tIX5n6ZSjZmn4Z1T2cjLPndoy9tf_plR7JG1Bv9_eII0d-7S_uLMCa68QYygUa34X9z5iniy0WwMvvTOT1AFnTpx1lyGUbbZqGRl8dJHZBRFY67k3hv0KWzGfMw0Z_tCbZJxKGbiVzlBdZ5GKXDL5lPa2A4QqxFPObihQ0MkMU.B29sjMnAKLMO5CLFYO_1es0x-525vXvma13z3klqNYU&dib_tag=se&keywords=normally+open+12+volt+microswitch&qid=1788044468&sprefix=normally+open+12+volt+microswitch%2Caps%2C590&sr=8-9
