Thanks Adam. I was admiring your truck. Since our Falcon and Comet are both '63 I figure we should have a same year Ford or Merc. truck to keep them company. Hear of any fair ones gimme a shout please.
Thanks Pete, like your club too, I checked it out. Might hafta take a run this summer, where 'n h*ll is Finch, lol.
I'm planning a low-buck build on the Comet to a 60's weekend warrior look. Poncho know's what I'm up to, he even donated a tach and gauges to the cause. His name goes on the trunklid under "crew"
Adam my former work took me from Vineland to Almer, Brantford to lake Erie. I saw LOTS of iron in barns, sheds, some done, some being worked on and some not yet started. I only spotted 3 or 4 early 60's Ford/Merc pickups and couldn't pry any of them from their owners. These trucks, like some other vehicles seem to be in the "love 'em or hate 'em" class. There doesn't appear much between. For myself, I'm on the love 'em side. I imagine mine nose high with the straight axle, front bumper gone, moon tank and pie-crust cheaters on the rear. Yeah, I'm a Gasser freak. That's the general look the Comet is headed for(without the straight axle though)and Poncho - the guys down South will just have to make do, right?
Hey Pete, did I forget to mention our '11 Mazda3 Sport or the '04 Ram 1500 Quad 4X4, then there's the 97 Jeep Wagoneer that'll donate most of it's running gear(except transfer & front dif) to a '74 GMC all aluminum step-van. We have a little of everything.
Of course like yourself there's a renegade in our midst too, our 17 yr old has a '77 Ventura with a '76 nose, 350/4 spd. gonna be a nice car and his '97 Dakota given to him by his older brother. He's pulling the Dakota motor this winter to spruce it up some and we have to change the gears, it's an auto/overdrive but the original owner(oldest bought it from him) ordered it with pulling gears and it really hums at 100klm so they gotta go.....does nice burn-outs though....he also has a late model Merc. Marquis and a Saturn 2dr coupe. They both do smokey burn-outs as well. Don't ask - and yes, my driveway looks like sh*t in a couple places
Our oldest son had 4X4's until he got tired of spending $$$$$, then one of them got totalled in a head-on(other guys fault) which really p'd him off. For now he's got an Aerostar SLT and bought a Dodge 1500 for his girlfriend. He hates them both but they get them where they need to go.
Our daughter also has a Saturn and an '89 Mustang convertible. She's doing a little remedial work on the convertible's passenger side door hinge post right now. Found some rot and wants to cut it out & patch it up before it gets worse, does her own work by the way. Taught her last boyfriend how to do his own oil changes because he was paying a shop. Current boyfriend is a mechanic, he fits in here real fine.
