I love your show and my 17 year old starts to talk about the next show as we drive up 81 on the way home. We talk all year until we walk into the gate for the new show. Hope in the next year or so we can drive down with the old car but still a few bugs to work out before driving that far yet.

Nice to see Right Coast drop in. I was supposed to go to Syracuse last summer my car was a Reps pick to attend.  My daughter decided to get married that weekend and that took first priority. Still on my bucket list for this year though.

We cross the border in Gananoque (1000 Islands), it's straight south on Interstate 81to Syracuse, then follow directions to Fairgrounds. (I drive from Kitchener).
I find it's easier to cross the border with your Rod, as the answer to the question "What is your reason for going to USA?", will not be 2nd guessed by the border officer, same thing coming back. Customs officers are cordial and respectful in Gananoque.

Like Brian(andhisbad55) said, you won't be disappointed, it's an awesome show, you need three days to see it all.
I'm booked for this year also, but I'm looking for a small RV/camper van.

I strongly recommend NOT going through Sarnia/Port Huron, I've crossed there numerous times, and it never fails, I have problems coming and going. The Customs officers there have a bit of an attitude...

I'll have to catch a ride  to see for myself disbelief

I am 72 miles from Sarnia Port Huron border

I tried crossing with my 66 Strato Chief  427 4 speed

U.S. customs held us up an hour   searched car   removed seats, trunk carpet, all our belongings  and left them piled beside car  85 degree day...

On way back Canada Customs held us up 2 hours  I had to get daughter to fax bill of sale for car(she had to break in my house and dig through my stiff to find bank tranfer from 2006)  They claimed I was sneaking car into Canada

NEVER AGAIN WILL I TAKE OLD ACROSS BORDER...  NEVER.....  Wife will never cross again   She searched her  disbelief

The border crossings near Ottawa have never been a problem  I have been going to the Syracuse show for 10 years and never had a problem at the border.  Once I was asked if I was planning on selling my car in the U.S., to which I replied no.  Most of the time the border guards are interested in the cars and ask questions about them.

I highly recommend a visit to the Syracuse show if you have never been.  It is an awesome weekend with over 7,000 cars in attendance.  You won't be disappointed.

Just over 1500 Canadian Cars support us at Syracuse in 2011, i have never heard anyone being hassled at the New York State Borders, If your polite and have the proper documentation theres no problem.

I live in Hamilton and I cross at Buffalo on the Tuesday before with my motorhome, car trailer, my car and 2 handicap scooters, 6 years never been stopped, I came back Sunday night, cross at Queenston other then the usual questions, he asked if i had a good time "Always" he never asked if i had purchased anything......lol

I find the Michigan Borders are tough, i go to the Dream Cruise in August and its always hit and miss if you gonna be pulled in at the Tunnel or Bridge in Detroit or back at Customs in Canada coming home.....

I find when you cross in the Hotrod, they seem to loosen up the reins a bit. Sarnia is the training centre for the guards,so they tend to be a little more harsher there. If you give them attitude, they will surely return it. One word answers work the best, I find. I usually buy a 12 or 15 pack of beer on a day trip and have never been sent in. When I purchased my Altered Fiat in December, I had a young lady come out to check the car over. She said her Father would love it. She asked how much I paid and I was on my way home.

I have always had good experiences crossing into Michigan.
I brought back a 270 dodge motor in the back of my wife's mini van and the guard had a great laugh at the fact that my wife let me use her car, and then it was have a nice day.
again if you show respect and take your time at the border you will be fine.
the men and woman at the border are people too.
