some gas shocks would be cool but I imagine the bed has a fair amount of weight to it.
One of my "problems" is that... Well... I don't always walk on a well beaten path...
I have seen some real cool shock set ups... But I know wood a whole lot better... I am thinking about steaming / bending some maple or ash... Still a premature plan... But it will keep you posted!
another option would be twisted metal braces.... Like what Indian Larry used to do in bikes...

Went to the Woodstock swap meet this am.. If you need a new tin plaque of a new T-shirt then you should have been there! Old plates, some cool old parts, but I wasn't impressed with some of the prices... I am looking for a couple things and I could buy the from speedway cheaper than at the tables....
I bought a small old brass fire extinguisher to convert to a surge tank for the rad. $15.00 for a dirty one.
I have also made some progress on my bed support, currently it is just a stick, soon it will be .... Different!
Argh... My bed support is still giving me grief! The fact that I put the sending unit right in the middle of the tank is now biting my ass..... When the bed support is closed, it hits the tank!!!!
This will not do!

I decided that I had to redesign the bed prop... Right back to square one... So now it has a different shape, and is made from hemlock instead of black walnut or maple...
the really cool part is that this time, it all came together GREAT!!
