Hey Pugsy! Great to see the covers pulled off and you making excellent progress on your '41. :)

Just curious, how long are the probes on your spot welder?

Hi Nick.

If you're talking throat depth, about 27".

Thanks,

Pugsy

Made up a door for the fuel pump access. Also made up a body mount for the driver's side rear and a long channel  to spot weld across the raised section for body mounts also.

Just a bead rolling tip. The beads are pre-stretched on the ewheel before being rolled.

The panel comes out pretty flat this way.

I made up a couple of more pieces for the passenger side. Starting to come together.

Amazing work again Jari!

Makes me start thinking "Why did I leave my fathers old bead roller in Finland?"...

 Thanks Chris.

The Hogtown Meet will be happening again this year.

I am thinking May 3 and 4th.

How's your schedule? I know a lot of guys have events to go to and I'd like to get a date when it's good for most.

May 3rd a Weekend is very bad Pugsy! that's the Stirling flea market weekend and also the new version of the Lindsay market for those who go there as well... Over attended Stirling for 41 years so I will not be missing that...
The weekend before or after would be cool...

The weekend after is Mother's Day and the weekend before is Ancaster Flea Market, I believe.

How about the weekend after Mother's Day,

just checked, it's the long weekend.

It only leaves the last weekend in April.

Work for you?

I built a rotisserie to work on the floor of the car.

I copied it from a pic I Googled. It was from    twintorinos.com

Works good enough to roll the car over so that's cool.

IMG_2809 (Medium).jpg

Next thing to do was to mock up the toe board and tranny tunnel.

IMG_2779 (Medium).jpg

Followed by some bracing.

IMG_2790 (Medium).jpg

I cut out the floor and rocker panels next.

I bent up a couple of rocker panels from 18 ga cold rolled steel and then shrunk them to shape.

I was surprised how well they came around with all the bends in them.

IMG_2870 (Medium).jpg

IMG_2871 (Medium).jpg

I made up a couple of sill extensions and welded them on.

IMG_2890 (Medium).jpg

IMG_2895 (Medium).jpg

IMG_2898 (Medium).jpg

After cooling the curve opened up and I had to shrink the lip going up. The only thing available was to heat it up and let it cool off. You can see the space between the rocker and my template.

IMG_2900 (Medium).jpg

This pic shows how I brutalized the new part with the torch. It was actually too much and I had to work it back the other way after but the second one worked well.

IMG_2902 (Medium).jpg

Last pic shows the template fitting nicely.

No, it's not at my work place,  it's ten minutes up the street if you want to check it out.

Great work Pugsy! Getting the curves just right are always a challenge. Key to success is lotsa patience.

By the way, nice to see the PPE gear being used.

Thanks Nick.

Patience is right. I rushed and over heated the one piece and payed for the mistake by going at it for some time getting it right.

I may learn one day......

I ended up cutting about 14" off the sill extension piece.

Welding 1/2" at a time very 6" or so and allowing it to cool.

In the meantime, I clamped the driver side rocker in place for a sneak preview.

I added a couple of flat plates to the cowl so the new firewall could be made straight. It also gave about an inch and a half more foot room.
