Welcome Valley neighbour. Here is another area site for your computer time wasting. It comprises the 613 area code and all outside the area code are welcome to join and are welcomed. Henry.
Hi, I've been directed here from the HAMB and it's great to have a more local board! I've liked rods all my life and got into old school types about 13 years ago. Skinny tires, vintage engines, wheels are my favourite. I have a '31 Model A with a Merc V8, closed drivetrain and Lincoln brakes. Also an old '32 Tudor with a B engine, Lion Hi Comp head, 94 carb and electronic 12V ignition. My current project is an all steel 26 touring front piece with a shortened Model A pickup box, Chev V8 powered, high windshield, 16" wheels. I'm wanting to build a '56 265 Chev V8 for the '32. I need a four barrel intake for the 265, either an old chev one or aftermarket if they ever made one for it. It has the small port heads and they seem hard to find, although not in high demand I guess. If anyone has some 265 high compression #306 heads (or early staggered bolt 283 heads), I'd be interested.
I have an original '56 265 original Corvette intake I'd either sell or like to buy the correct carbs for, if not crazy priced.

Thanks, Bill
The current project sounds interesting why a 265 with hard to get parts why not a 283 ? just wondering
Bill if you are going to change the cam make sure that the last bearing has a notch/ flat on it for oiling or do the mod on chevytalk below. You can use 305 heads on that block, probably 267 etc, very easy to find compaired to the 265 heads and intake. My 57 came with a 283 with 305 top end. If you look at the cam choice it will show a range of 265-400, but the years are 57 on. That is because in the US only they up graded the 265 to have full oiling for the 57 model year and used these engines in some cars and then discontinued the 265 when all were used up. Also the 55-57 V8's are front mount only with no side bosses/ tapped holes so you cannot mount them as 58 and newer blocks with side mounts.
Here is some good reading on the cam and block work.
Nice to see another Valley guy. I lived in Renfrew before I moved to Guelph. I head back sometimes with the wife to her parents. Always try and make time to go see my buddy Daryl
