Hi Folks, I don't have a hot rod, just a couple of old cars, a 56 Morgan Plus 4 and a 66 Volvo 1800, both of which need some work. I've had the Volvo for 26 years and the Morgan for 5.  I've discovered that I can learn more about old cars by listening to the hot rodders than the 'keep it original' types. Whenever possible I do keep things original, but I'm not against modifying either. Nice to have an Ontario forum. Thanks for the opportunity to join. Fred

Hi Randy, The first Morgans were all 3 wheelers so when the first 4 wheeled car was made in the thirties, it was called the 4/4. That meant 4 wheels and 4 cylinders.  The Plus 4 denotation meant extra horsepower from 4 cylinders. It was the performance model at the time  (Triumph TR3 engine in mine--Morgan is too small to make their own engines).  In 1968, Morgan starting fitting the Rover V8 (same as a Buick 215 and parts interchangeable) and that model was called the Plus 8.  Fred

Welcome from St.Marys... I used to have a Morgan + 4 but that was back in 72..Seems to me I stiil have the wood floor around here someplace..or the pattern I made the floor from..I can't seem to remember the year but I seem to think it was a 1954..anyway welcome most of the girls here like most kinds of cars Seems like the older I get I have seen things I never noticed before in older women and older cars..not sure what that means ..but..I like it..

Thanks Fatchuk, Your 54 would have had 1/2 inch tongue and groove pine for the floor like mine. Most people replace it with marine grade plywood. My car was made when Morgan was experimenting with particle board and still has some in it. If it was painted and kept dry it would last, but it has no strength and the Morgan needs every bit it can get with the flimsy steel frame. It was a bad idea as you can imagine! Fred

Thanks for the welcome. I used to work in Trenton over 30 years ago at Erie Technological Products (long gone now). I commuted from Madoc.  I also spent a bit of time in Belleville as I had (have) friends there.  Foxboro is pretty close too!  Fred
