ya know those stop signs they have in the middle of a mall parking lot ??. Are they real ??. a young guy I know works night shift finishes around 2;30 to 3 am . drives out thru complex parking lot an just drives thru the parking lot stop sign like he usually does cause there is only 3 cars in the whole place . Pulls out onto street an gets pilled over an given a ticket for going thru the stop sign .
I thot those were just like courtesy , traffic control ones ??. not real road stop sign,s
any how the cop that gave him the ticket is this blonde one on our local city force an this broad is just a cramping , power meister b i t c h . I mean if you ever met some one you just wanted to put a dent in their brain bucket with a number 2 round mouth , this is the one .
held the guy up for half an hour , checked his tires , lights etc , had him rev his engine . insurance registration all that stuff , its a stone stock 4 door crapolier
I,m pretty shure the ticket is gonna get beat , but are those stop signs real ..77.

I obey the signs in parking lots only when there are pedestrians or other cars present. Mostly because I'm polite like a good Canadian, but also because I don't trust the "other guy"- you never know what they'll do!

Mall lots are private property.Cops usually can only ticket when called in by the owner in spacific cases like dangerious driving, drunks, noise stuff like that .That is the way I understand it,Fight it and you will probably get off.I just fought a big speeding ticket as did Fatstax. Both charges were dropped because the cop made a mistake on some part of the ticket and the prosicuter said he couldn't charge me with any part of the ticket(the points or the fine) because of it.My luckey day he said.Just glad I didn't just payup as it would have cost a lot of money and a few points.Fight em all should be the the new rodder code. Ed
The way I look at it is any ticket is worth fighting. No point in giving the insurance company's reason to triple your rates. For years id just show up by myself won some lost some. Now its worth taking any ticket you get to the paralegal . cheaper in the long run and if every one did it they would tie the courts up for years. problem is there are too many dam sheep that just do as they are told. keep us posted if you remember might make it to court by spring.
highway traffic act only applies to public roads and entrances to them, private areas such as mall parking lots signs dont mean anything since malls have no way of enforcing any tickets. a cop can ticket you if they wish but it will be dismissed automatically. running a stop sign while entering a roadway from a mall parking lot is illegal.
Along the same line but a little different - I had a Cop pull into my driveway while we were having a little burnout contest. Cop said " I can fine you right now, Careless, Un-necessary noise, etc. I suggested I could do what I want on my drieway. Cop say's my driveway show's up on his GPS as Mewhinney Lane (my name), and it does - but I didn't ask the Municipality to name it - or put it on their map. It belongs to me, I granted "temporary" and "limited" use for the Municipality to use it as an Emergency Access to the Retirement Developement behind us but the Municipality nor the Developement hold no ownership to the lands - just me.
I told the Cop to start writing, I'll be happy to see him in Court.
He left.
Not trying to be, don't really have a personal beef with too many of them. Actually have a couple friends and family on different forces. My issue is with someone trying to overextend their authority.
Fight every ticket boys and girls, trust me it works.
And Slim is right, if everyone did it would back the courts up so badly it would cripple the system.
And if anyone needs the best guy around to represent you or a loved one in the GTA area, drop me a line and I'll send you to "the man" from Markham. Gotten many tickets completely thrown out. This guy makes the crown shake in their booties!
Hey 77 I know that blond cop from Barrie. She waved me over on lakeshore down by the water front. No lights or siren. I though oh crap no front plate, no fenders, here we go. Turns out she just wanted to let me know that part of the street ahead was tore up and I may want to detour around it. She did comment and say nice roaster and where is the front plate . I showed it to her as it was behind the passenger's seat she said ok have a nice day and I was off. That is the first time I have been stopped in this car and hope it is the last. It still got my heart thumping though. Oh and by the way I do stop at all stop signs for a minimum of 4 seconds learnt the hard way...lol
