Hello Ontario Rodders, It has come to our attention that a post was added to your website by a new member, HOTRODFORD. This individual is involved in a legal matter with the Guild and FYI they are not clients or customers. The claims made about the Econoline Van “Grasshopper” are patently untrue. The placement of the gas tank was made long before the truck arrived at the Guild. In fact it was one of the first things that we noticed however for the sake of the show content it was “discovered” on camera. We do have photographs taken when the truck first arrived at the Guild that show that the gas tank was originally in the position directly under the headers. We replaced that tank with a new fuel cell placed in exactly the same spot and this cell was close to the headers as it was in the same spot as the original gas tank. This was altered by the Guild as one of several safety concerns and there was quite a few instances of inadequate engineering encountered as one can easily imagine as a High School shop is a place to learn the basics and mistakes are bound to be made. In fact the overall van was pretty cool and they did a pretty fare job for a group of school kid’s however the van was not ready for road use which is why it was brought to the Guild in the first place. It is now quite safe and reliable. It has not escaped us that there are several detractors on your site so in order to perhaps appease the doubters and dispel some of the largely unfair criticism we would like to extend an invitation to all the members of the Ontario Rodders site. Give us a call and we would be pleased to have you as our guests, give you a tour of our facility and answer any questions you have about our projects, practices or methods employed on client’s cars. The Guild is very proud of its staff and the level of professionalism and skill that they have. At the end of the day these people are all fellow car enthusiasts and rodders, customizers and classic cars nuts and it is hardly fair to them that they should receive undue and unearned criticism. I think the fact that a group of Canadians working together and has managed to garner an International following and win awards at some of the most prestigious Custom Car shows and Concours in the world would be something that we should all be proud of.
Welcome and I think me and my young boys may have to take you up on the offer. I have watched the show (haven't commented on a thread ) but the experience would be great for the young ones to see a full on restoration shop. It's always good to hear both sides of the story so to speak.
