So, what's everyone planning for halloween?

 

This will be our first Halloween in Canada, so I'll probably go a bit OTT, lol.

So far I have three huge pumpkins, and I plan to buy a smoke machine, some red lamps and maybe a strobe light

 

Will make a spooky haunted garage for the night

Try to wait for the special effect stuff as it goes on sale at CT after Halloween for sure and sometimes a day or so before. I've picked up a couple of the fog machines.

I usually will decorate the shop and get some stuff in for the kids in town,to stop them from soaping my windows.I finally found my big Godzilla standie so we will see how that goes over.We live in the sticks as well but there are still the grandkids and they will dressup this year.A fun time of year . Ed

Quick heads-up...

Spirit in Ancaster is amazing, but not cheap. I got the same smoke machine in Walmart for 30, where it's 45 in Spirit.

we went all out when the kids were littler. I built a coffin and we had corn stalks stuck in the ground all over the front yard. Fog machines and scary music.

we live on a 5 lane road , 20 houses long , tween a middle income subdivision an a rich people subdivision . kids don't even stop here . the woman buys treats in anticipation , but I slit the tape on the bottom of the boxes an when h / ween comes around an she opens them up there,s usually only 2 0r 3 of each thing left in the boxes . ha ha good tomes .
I used to make up moving figures an sounds , scary music etc , but not for prob 10 - 12 yrs . ..77.

My wife to is one of those "get in the spirit" types..every year she buys candy for the kids..for the first 2 years after moving into our house I would watch as parents walked their kids past and other kids went right by our house, yet go to the neighbours...never could figure out why.....now we have the fire hall which is 4 blocks away putting on a huge display which, the parents would rather take their kids to for gobs of candy... It's not like when we were kids going everywhere to gather candy.....now its take the little ones to certain safe enclosed spots to get their fill...lazy little ****s

Dave.....FYI

Kids dont give a crap about your decorations......

They just want the freekin candy

If you really want to impress them

Hand out full size Mr Big chocolate bars

I did that one year....little rat bas****ds would go around the corner and switch costumes and come back 2-3-4 times

Stuff their bags full of candy and they will remember you more than your decorations

Just sayin.....
