This year was a fun year, without going into to much detail here's the coles notes.....lol....
* Taking 4 club cars and the club dragster to the Detroit Autorama...just being in the show was a blast but bringing home some awards was just icing on the cake....lol. * Peeling down to the Poor Boys Midnight Mass Party with a couple club brothers in our hot rods for an all nighter in Mowtown.....fun road trip indeed. *Hitting the Shakers Reunion in Windsor, hanging out with all the Detroit and Windsor drag racers from the golden days...what a cool party with some of the coolest cats......man can these guys drink beer...lol. * Catching the Nitro action at Grand Bend Dragway in July. * Getting out to St. Thomas Dragway this summer with the guys and the cars to support and help our club brother Shawn with his vintage Altered.......not too many broken parts...lol. * The ELTA Disciples of Speed Summer Bash......if you weren't there......you missed one happening time. * The Piston Pusher Picnic....I'm still stuffed.....great corn and burgers...lol. * The ELTA Disciples of Speed FAll Mixer.......great to see so many excellent cars and good friends. * The Jalopyrama road trip with a couple of club brothers to Annapolis Maryland....just one cool show and buzzing the bridge over the bay at over 100 mph with a few hot rods in tow was memorable.
Plus the year isn't over yet...lol....but it's been great so far.....thanks to all the great hot rodders that have crossed my path this year....your company has made it that much better......lol.

Ice in the puddles and dark at 6 because of the time change. Time to put the 55 away for the season . Kind of a sad time for car nuts ,so I got thinking about which was was the best event this year. The Fenders event Put on by the Dogpatch Devils was the biggest surprize because it is held in the middle of a subdivision in the middle of Oshawa and when Fatstax and I got our cars there I was really surprized to see the street lined with choppers and the school yard full of ratrods. But the best part was the band playing Rockabilly at the end of someones driveway and the fact this was a charity event . For something different Transportation days at Keen Pioneer Village was interesting because of there desplays and vintage tractors and wagons. One of the best events of the year was the Port Hope fall fair show because the entire Ratlers car club was actually in one place at the same time. Riding in Robs rat truck after all his hard work building it was memorable as well and I thank him for sharing one of the first outings with him(thank gawd he has windows in it now.A big thanks to Grumpy for letting me ride shotgun when we went on a breakfast tour with the Oshawa Aces. But I guess the most fun I had with cars this year was the Armdrop drag races. It was a really good time as I got to spend some quality car time with my son and the rest of the Ratlers.Lost the races to The Boys Roadmaster wagon but finally ,after 5 years trying, I was able to win one race against T.Js yellow wagon. It was a fun day with friends and cars, beating the hell out of you car for one day is somethong everyone should try at least once. This was a really fun season for me and the Ratlers and we are working on something for nexr year to hopefully pay back the clubs that made this year so much fun for us. Ed
I have been to so many this year taking pics for my Facebook site Starting in Detroit in March and still going when will it end have meet so many great Hot Rod guys this year still hope to meet more.
parking my low budget 56 Monarch plain driver beater loser car at the car show beside some expensive resto and having just as many people stopping to look .........as the fancycars ......not bad for being the only car with a loser sticker and plate frame around
over all quite summer but
the fall arm drop. like ed said above, dropping the hammer on the chevy all day is a grinnnn
the swaraye at lightspeeds and meeting some of the guys on here
getting a couple of rides on the h-d for the first time in 3 yrs

jeeez i have a boring life. this is going to be a long winter season at this rate. lmao
Handing the keys to my son and letting him drive his HOTROD (yes his)in a parking lot. ( he is 14). It's his car and you couldn't punch the smile off his face! Proud dad moment.
The ELTA Summer Bash and my road trip to Moncton in the 58.
Following some beat off 58 to the east coast plus hangin with chris
port hope fall fair with the ratlers
syracuse
I gotta say, that Moncton trip wouldn't have been the same without you Sacotu. I wish I got your fuel mileage though! Even the trip THERE on my own... no radio, no A/C, no cruise control, no passenger...was quite awesome!

Quite a few this year. Started with the Can-Am Grand Island show fried a rod on the way home for the second time arrr but the machine shop stepped up and redid it n/c. Next scored a excellent 350 smogger for 600 bucks and stuck it in for the summer. Helped my son buy his first classic a 74' Omega now he's got the racing bug. We went to a lot of shows Bothwell, Zurich, Leamington and many more. Won my first club trophy at Can-Am Gathering show in the rain. But I think the highlight of my season was going heads up with my kid at the Turkey Nationals T&T, I thought about letting him win a round but no.

Guest Pinstriper for Artie's party at the Syracuse nationals was an awful lot of fun while doing some good for the kids who could really use my help. I may not be one of the better painters there but it sure feels good when the big guys make you feel like you're on a level playing field doing something for someone who cannot! Having mat many of the Ontario Rodders this year has also been an awesome highlight for me, have yet to meet a member I wouldn't invite to my home again!

We went to a LOT of events this summer, making up for years of miserable grey and rained-off events in the UK. It's very nice to be able to plan an event weeks in advance over here
But my personal favourite, was our first trip down to the Pier 4 cruise in Hamilton. We met Grumps and other folk I had previously met from the forum, and was made to feel very welcome. The sun was going down on a warm summers eveing, the band was playing and the atmosphere was so relaxed I was in heaven.
Had a great season this year. Got to meet a bunch new friends from this forum, Thanks Harry Syracuse was great show as usual. Armdrop in Picton was a lot of fun. High light for me was the BBQ at my place where the car show came to me and I could drink all I wanted and not worry about driving home.

Went to a few this year ...Run to the Sun is A Great Show (Myrtle Beach SC.). Syracuse is always good, we were there Friday man it was HOT! and our Norwood Fair Car Show was a good time 600 cars and nice weather. Overall good year.
The ELTA Bash was tops for me. Great cars, great guys and who can top the clubhouse.
The Pallookaville 50 was a very special event too. Still waiting to hear if there will be a 51st.
Syracuse was another highlight for me, and being picked by Streetrodder Magazine for the Top 100 of 2013.
Met a lot of super people at all the events, and most of them are on this site too.

I Definitely started the year off right with Autorama in Detroit its a kool show, Syracuse is always incredible, i spend the week there, ELTA bash just rocks and my favorite cruise is Peir 4 in Hamilton that i co-host, but then i enjoy myself everywhere i go and supporting my fellow gear heads.........
My best year was 2011. I got a private tour of Jay Lenos Garage,(& Tonight Show), hung out with George Barris and got to hit cruise night at Bobs Big Boy in Burbank...and also toured the Peterson Museum as well a private tour in"The Vault". That was the coolest gear head year outside London. ELTA, hands down. And could sure show the SoCal folks a thing or two how the Canucks do it.
managed to get to Detroit for the show to start the year right, later i got to spend a week cruising LA to all the shops and the LA Roadster show, what a week of hot rods that was........
I'm interested in the E.L.T.A. bash for next year ....never heard of it before ,but it sounds interesting . Is it the same week every year ? Any more info would be appreciated so I can plan ahead .

The ELTA Summer Bash is held the same weekend as Bothwell. So you can go to Bothwell and pick up something you can't live without and continue down #2 to London for the Bash. If you know Ragtop Mike) here on the board talk to him for first hand experience. Mike's been coming for a number of years.
There will be announcements on this board in the spring.

I will personally guarantee that you'll enjoy yourself TJ and with ELTA 2014 being a milestone 10th year anniversary, you picked a good time to come out and join us!
