Wow, just way too young! Just goes to show...there's a time and a place. I'm betting this scenario was neither.
I did notice the 45 mph speed limit sign in pic 2 - that lotsa damage for 45 mph. It will be interesting to know if this will be dusted under the rug or if the general public will find out the true cause of this horrific wreck.

From other pictures I've seen from the accident scene , debris was scattered all across the road and you can see the sideways tire skids across a couple of lanes. I'm going to say they had just cut loose. The Carrera GT is not known to have the best safety rating either.
I feel bad for his family and friends , but especially for his 15 year old daughter who just lost her dad. Nothing a child should have to go through.
Him and the Fast and Furious team completely changed the car scene in the UK. He never really impressed me with his acting skills, but he brought much enjoyment through movies.
I watched him in a film recently, think it was called "Hours" where he was caught up in Hurricane Catrina, and trapped in a Hospital alone with his newborn son. He had to keep him alive in an incubator by winding up a generator for three days.
He was really starting to grow as a versatile actor. Sad day.
