Like many on here I'm stubborn, never getting a physical, no family doctor, never sick a day, smoked a pack a day for 45 years, macho man that felt industructable, well my turn finally came up last week. I won't go into all the details but ended up in the Emergency last Friday night, right leg just wasn't working the way it should, blood pressure off the chart at 225/125. After 4 days of tests the conclusion was I had a stroke, luckily only effecting my lower right foot and should recover fully before the car show season begins. My point to all is even if you feel great take the time to get a check up, just like the old rides, better a little PM work than a major breakdown later on!!
Glad to hear your are doing well yes I'm going through a bunch of tests as well to make sure everything is working as it should. I am glad to live in a province that has it all and can get things done quickly,I moved from Kelowna a few years ago and to say that things get done here in a reasonable time is an understatement
Good advice, and advice i never pay attention to always too busy!!
Glad to hear you will recover, a big number do not.
As we all age we need to start paying attention, and get checked out regularly.
My advice won't cost you a dime but it will help your cardio , make you feel better , and most likely will improve the situation . I had to learn the hard way too !
Go for a walk , every day , atleast an hour to start . Make it a brisk walk to actually get you breathing harder . If you are like me , you'll bitch and complain in the beginning ...and then actually look forward to it as time goes by . Leave the cell phones and texters at home ( I don't have them anyhow ) and enjoy the fresh air , smells and sounds . It works ...and it's FREE !

X2 on the walking-- smashed hip, /04, brain aneurysm /09.
Geez Don, sorry to hear about that, but happy to hear you're doing better. Makes one realize how quickly life can change. Hope you're back to 100% soon.
My father has a brush with colon cancer this fall. Same old story, No one's touching me back there, damn it! Lucky for us he was in very early stages and he "nipped it in the bud" as my mother said!
Everyone over 50 needs to go get a Colonoscopy! Those smear tests only let you know that you already have cancer!

Hi Don
So glad you are going to be "ok".
Thank you for giving us the heads up and the advise. We are all guilty of putting these things off and we do know better. It takes something close to home to maybe make us get the tests.
