Great looking garage..never been but I plan on coming now. Only thing I see missing is a Autographed Barrie Poole poster lol
Lol......oh there's one on the wall....a metal sign that has all the Boarder Bandit's signatures.....we're very proud of the Ford racers. But we'd take another one ....lol.
This is some advice to and for myself for 2014....I thought I would share ...
Some times it's best not to say or add to a post but that's hard to do when we are what we are..I'd like to say that the more often we get opportunitys to have some meetings the more we get to meet face to face..I know that when you read what some-one says in a post it is easy to take it the wrong way and then a little more kindling gets thrown on the fire and pretty soon three or four have stirred the kindling..I have come to meet a few here that I may have taken to be fire stirrers..but having met the ones I thought that about I find they are just different in their sense of humour and personality and for sure "it's hard to see personality.." so we should lighten up.. life is too short for a lot of us greybeards...
Hemi43 (Dan) said
"Grumps party last week should be proof enough that things are headed in the right direction. All the joking around in here IMO, is a positive thing and has created many friendships. There's only a handful in here that take offence to the joking around that goes on in here, and I don't think it's worth changing things to satisfy a few. I don't sure don't see "disgusting" or "criticizing" posts from anyone unless they are deliberately taken out of context."
( I think there is room for a little spirited bantering aas long as it doesn't get to personal and the parties that had a little missunderstanding here resolved it with out issue or hard feelings, as it should be..All is well that ends well ...I think Dan is passionate, very talented and opinionated and that's just fine with me,I enjoy his satire because I understand it and it does not offend me...
I agree, the more we get to know each other the less we might get our shorts in a knot when one of us takes a little dig at one of us.. I get the hair up on the back of my neck time to time but I am trying to practice more and more about hitting the send button with a negative comment..When we reply to a post it automatically creates a draft that gets saved so I have found it helps to to just leave that reply sit overnight and if I still feel like I really need to add to the thread the next day I can then hit the send button..most times I find that I am kinda glad I did not reply as when I read my own reply the next morning sometimes I don't like what I wrote or it's really not what I wanted to or should say at all..(just a suggestion for myself 2014)
I think the little missunderstanding, was just that, thats all it was but a couple other posts made it seem bigger than it was ..We are just a new board bringing a lot of car guys into a online garage that will require some time to get know each other better ..I have a good feeling about this great online group of Rodders and I beleive by the end of 2014 we will all have grown amd many more will become good friends I think Glen will have to get more awards for next Christmas awards....So lets all try to be a little more respectfull to each other, lets try to cut each other a little more slack, and lets try not to pour fuel on a post that may appear to be going sideways. more advice for myself...
So here's to a great 2014 and some great get to-gethers this year where we can all break bread at some breakies, rod runs, swapmeets, car things and lets all make this the year we support each other in our hobby ..lets use our hobby and friendship to get out and meet each other and include our family as often as we can and leave all the drama to the politicians and the MOE..I think in a short period of time this board has grown to include a large number of rodders, special interest cars, father and son participants, and hopefully even some familys have come to see the fun and and commrodderie of being in a hot-rod hobby world, with people of all walks of the varied social world we live in and like a family not everyday will be smooth we all have ups and downs for one personal reason or another lots of things happen that spoil our day ..So lets all try and raise the bar a little and take more pride in our hobby and friendship and take care of each other ..now I will get off my soap-box...and we can get back to regularly scheduled programing...
Every body knows the ELTA is theplace to be on the 2nd Sat in AUG for the best damn party in London..See the shop for yourself..
I can tell yah that, you would have to die and go to "hot-rod heaven" to meet a finer bunch than the guys from the ELTA..No bullchit here, nobody I have ever met in 50 years of hot rodding are nicer guys than the ELTA,..any one of them would crawl through burning rubber and broken gear-boxes and 20 miles of burning oil to help you out..They are the best ambassadors of hot rodding I have had the pleasure to know..I have never heard a word of bad mouthing any body, just positive comments and attitudes they truly know how to make yah feel warm and welcome anywhere you come across one of them..allways a smile and a warm welcome. They embody what commrodderie is all about in this hobby..If you have a chance to spend some time with anyone of them it will be a uplifting experience and you will know you met a brother in this hobby...Just a super bunch in my humble opinion..be a great idea to maybe have an Ont rodder breakfast in early Feb and do a tour of their clubhouse and shop..kinda set the spring mood...
What fatchuck said^^^^^^^ Well put!

JPB...thanks for the original post I enjoyed it very much. Its a shame it got hijacked. I hope it does not keep you and others from posting in the future.
Work shops today are not only used for just fabrication, service and painting. They are a place to do what we enjoy more than just about anything. Build, improve, hide out in, relax, repair, store, share good stories, celebrate, service, party, create memories, preserve history, meet new people, hide stuff from your wife, are all functions of a well used shop. The ELTA clubhouse does all of the above over and over again. I couldn't ask for a better bunch of rodding friends than these guys. They definitely keep it real!

Just what you guys want to see. Another women's point of view
I actually found and then joined this site a while back while searching for a group of some sort for women gearheads for myself and my daughter.(she sadly has the sickness also )
No luck....(I know, shocking! right? ) I was just looking for a place to get information and networking for parts ect.One of the first to welcome me was Ray.
And although I do not have a penis (Sorry, to be blunt but having one of those automatically opens doors into these type of groups for you fella's) There are many of you here that have offered any help they can regardless. I have certainly found what I was looking for here. Posts beginning with guy's and girls inviting tours of shops/opinions ect don't go unnoticed and I thank you.
Have there been some that haven't? Yes.
Do I care? No! thanks for asking.
Have I found some "goofs"...... yes. Imagine that.
Do I see offensive comments/postings/pictures ? Yes. Imagine that.
Could I live without the Dyke comments ? Yes!
Do I take it personally and allow it to wreck/ruin my game plan? Not for a second. I have to much I wanna get done.
Do I need anyone's approval to build/drive/teach about this hobby? Hell No!
Can I take a joke? I believe so. Can I throw a zinger right back at you? In 0.9 seconds if I choose
I Wasn't looking for encouragement or a pat on the back when I get something accomplished. I don't need it! I'll keep doing and teaching mine to do their thing regardless....... But I again found it that here.
I wasn't looking for new friends that share the same passion/interests..... but again I found many here.
I have found many who are gracious in sharing their knowledge, input, shop, tools, parts and beer ect.....ok, maybe not the beer but you see where I'm going with this.
The good far out weights the stupid. At the end of the day, when it comes to this hobby. I'm just one of the guy's..... but with lady parts and I love shoes sorry!
Both my "poor husband" Art and I have enjoyed meeting the great bunch we have, and look forward to meeting many more.
We can be a part of a group that continues to grow and teach about our beloved hobby. passionate people can have heated discussions/debates, a different point of view, and then help build crazy steel. That's what its all about.
back to work I go
Janice

I have to agree with Fatchuck.
If you are looking for something to compain about in what a person has to say you can find wrong if you look for it long enove.
Smile its a new year
Sadly..... I believe it was all my time spent at the learnin box to become a paralegal forcing me to be able to put at least two words together
I fell in love with Art for the same reason your better half loves you Glenn......... who can turn down a guy who looks so hot and happy dancing in a skirt.
All joking aside..... You were/Are also a gracious ambassador to this hobby. I do appreciate your input and guidance..... maybe just not the harassing calls from "visa being over my limit"
Especially this time of year man. That's just mean.

You know what, I actually found the original post quite depressing.
You know why?????
Because I am 45, and have missed all that awesomeness because I grew up in Scotland
I look at the ELTA "Tunnel of Love", and Even the walls at Grumps Body Works, and sigh. I grew up with crappy Ford Escorts and Austin Rovers, the most exciting car of my younger days was a Ford Capri, which turned out to be a complete pile of poo. We didn't have V8's and cars the size of small countries because Petrol was so expensive. We didn't have a multitude of race tracks and quarter miles because land was so coveted.
My entire automotive dreamworld is what I seen in films, and every time I watched one I would get sad, knowing I might never have what I see.
BUT I'M HERE NOW!, and I have a LOT of catching up to do
With your help, I am finally living my dream, so thanks
And what would we be without our lady rodder partners..no food, no claen clothes, nobody to bath the dog, run for beer, pump the brake pedal and I ain't sleeping with Glen or Hemi...hang in here Janice we need you to keep our morals clean and ..road trips..
would be impossible without yah... we are blessed to have you here...
What a shame he was driving and got them in that situation to begin with.
I better not let Art see this list of stuff I'm supposed to be doing in stead of him.
Shhhhh Lets just keep that between us...... and I wont tell all your wives you hide expensive parts/beer or other banned items in the shop/trunk of your rides
Deal?

Better be carefull of any business yah do with Glen this year, I can see his new business venture may be a bit shady...Some guys will do anything to his friends to get a grumpy award..
JPB...thanks for the original post I enjoyed it very much. Its a shame it got hijacked. I hope it does not keep you and others from posting in the future.
As long as Darwin sends me links I will post 'em Kurt. Happy 2014

Hemi , I haven't been around here long enough to know all the things you are referring to ...can't be just this thread . For me , I've always kept any negative opinions to myself unless I'm specifically asked " Waddya think ?" , then I'll give my opinion yea or nay ( they asked ! ) .
Civilty seems to be fleeting in this day and age , but I at least try to abide by what my Dad always said ..." If you can't say something positive , don't say anything " .
You've got a decent Forum here , I think ...let's keep it that way .
T
Yep, T on the $$$$! From my experience (nose broke 3 TIMES ) you can THINK what you want, but at times best not to say what you THINK!

If you feel the need, or believe yourself to be, or other people think you are A GOOF, then you're right…stay the hell away…. we have enough goofs to deal with.!!! HOWEVER , if you love hot rods/ race cars/muscle cars and can behave yourself….you're more than welcome to come down for the summer bash and have a great time.
As for the "mis-understandings" it happens on every board because it's NOT face to face. We can't see the facial expressions, nor hear the intonations in the voice to recognize the humour presented. BUT if you're on an internet board you'd better grow some thicker skin cuz you WILL need it.
And Janice I don't see any worth what-so-ever in a dyke comment. From what I have seen and read you are a pretty well balanced individual that has an interest in something worthwhile. You also have a pretty sharp witt about you and I really appreciate that in ANYBODY. PLease try to make the summer bash we really want people like you and Art to be involved…you and Art really won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the invite. Any time I can go and talk about/look at anything car related is great and would not be a disappointing day in my books. We made it up to the drag strip and met a lot this past summer, made it down to burls creek flea and met more, then ancestor and met many more from here in the fall.
Totally disappointed that we weren't able to make it to the Christmas get together...... I weep every time I see the pic of grumps in his kilt.
Cant wait for the next event to meet new and old friends.
Praying for spring. Might have to come down for a tour before the snow breaks up here or I might wither up and blow away.
