Hello from Mississauga

Hello all,

I just bought my first rod project in April last year, it's a Canadian built 1938 Dodge D8 4d sedan and I found it from Pickering, it was quite original with the 6 cyl engine and 3 speed manual, it's not been driven in 50 years and it needs a complete rebuild.

Few project pictures:

My plan is to keep it fairly original with the 218cid 6 cyl engine and 3 speed manual, I'll convert it to 12V system but not sure about any other changes, I haven't decided what to do with the brakes and suspension yet. Still trying to remove last stubborn bolts.

I had earlier a 1970 Plymouth Duster with 360 cid V8 and 727 auto with manual valve body, I did quite a lot of work to that car but then lost the interest and sold it 2001, that was back in Finland where I'm from and that explains my weird name smile.gif.

Couple of pics here, I try to find my old project pictures and scan and add them here as well there later:

Thank you Janice, your 37 Olds looks pretty cool, it is so nice to see ladies working with the cars, I only wish that my wife would help me with the Dodge...

Me too Hannu....but she's too busy shoveling the driveway, laundry, cooking, cleaning, working at her full time job....and just generally taking care of me.

I think she needs better time management skills.

Welcome to the site.

Greetings from Trenton.
Looks like you are off to a good start. Your '38 looks like it does not have much rust to deal with. Gotta like that!

Thanks guys!

Well, it was a bit more rusty than I thought. The frame is pretty solid, only few holes in the driver side. But the inner fenders and rocker panels were quite soft, also the fenders were welded to the body so that created some extra hassle.

Yes, I have to say I appreciate the great food and drink service in the garage as well

Welcome from SW Dorchester! I had a '38 Dodge Coupe for a short spell that I shared with a pal. Ended up handing it over to him exclusively - cool car though. :

Coupes' are great also and that side line photo looks really good, I just love those suicide back doors in my 4d sedan... maybe next time a coupe or at least after a pick-up...

Welcome to the site.

Isn't your better half's non-payin/ full time job tryin to take care of you Glennconfuse

Just trying to keep your dance outfit mended  alone would take hours a daywink.

Sorry Hannu, just gotta get my jabs in when I can.

My 37 olds was very similar to yours. When I found it, it was still all original flathead 6/3 speed/suicide doors ect. I've had and continue to get help along the way and lots of good info/encouragement and community help here just for the asking. Some amazing builds here. You'll learn a lot and hopefully have a lot of laughs as well. I know I do biggrin

Welcome, from Baden, next door to the Mopar capital of Canada (New Hamburg).
I'm a Mopar guy, and I'm working on a '38 as well, mine's a pick-up.

Thanks Gazoo, seems like I'm a Mopar guy as well, I like many different cars but happen to buy only Mopars... is that a Duster or a Demon in your avatar?

No problem Janice, I understand, it's a long winter here as well, not as dark as in Finland but almost as long... somehow I thought your 37 Olds was a coupe but yes looks like mine... yeah, I was just checking Pugsy's work and it's unreal, me and my anvil are a bit behind...

The avatar is a '71 Duster 340. I like all makes as well, but for the time being, I kinda have to stick with Mopars. Once I'm done with the '38 pick-up, I might likely venture to the dark side.

I've missed out on some very sweet deals recently.
