Shouldn't we all have a little yellow man in our dashboard trying to make us go that extra few miles? Especially those of us with big blocks or hungry trucks!

Reminds me of my wife just after we got married. I picked her up a little Tercel to drive. I got in it one to move it and saw the low fuel light was on. Went back inside and informed her. The reply was "Oh I can drive it for 3 days like that". I told her not to call me if she runs out of gas. She kept better tabs on the fuel level after that.

Went to school with a buddy in his '69 V-dubya , NO gas gauge ( option I guess ) ....when you ran out there was a little switch you flipped to give you 1 gallon of gas ....we thought it was cool at the time , only thing , the guy traded a '62 Impala Conv 327 Auto on the dub and had to pay extra $$$ on the deal !

TeeJay, those older VW's had a gas gauge in the filler cap, like a few outboard tanks had.

PITA set up.

Just remembered also, the real old VW's i think came with a wooden dip stick like a ruler to check the gas level.
