Canada Post delivery is the strangest at times. Slow as heck sometimes, and other times SUPER FAST!
Last week i mailed a large envelope of papers , it left the post office here at 3PM, it arrived at it's destination the next day at noon, (Not even 24 HOURS!!) and the distance was 300 miles!!
I know for a fact or close, that Canada Post have all their mail sent by overnight Courier
they must of picked up the pace carl. i send a fair bit of mail weekly, invoices to customers and cheques to suppliers from belleville. ie; use to be mailed monday everybody had it by thur-fri. local next day, u.s. suppliers mid next week. now, ont customers, 100 mi radius, usually the same but montreal-toronto mid next week and u.s. end of next week. the big suppliers have purolater or fedex p/u once a week on their dime. i am semi-retired and not in as much so something could of changed but i still see the couriers in p/uing.
All my stuff from Summit I get sent to SCC in Port Huron ground 11:00am next day if ordered before 5pm for free never fail. Canada Post one week, plus a multitude of charges, I'm glad some one has had a positive experience with Canada Post because I never have.
Its because they are legally, the only ones under Canadian law to be able to run a red light. My FIL who used to be a firefighter told me that....so don't hold me to it

My less than 24 hour delivery was only a one time deal, but about 8 years ago i had a letter from Toronto that was mailed the day before i got it, but this one took just over 24 hours.
However i've had the same take anywere from 6-12 days to go the distance of 200 miles.
On the other side, i ordered some machining accesories from a company in California, had them in my hand three days later.
The mail is "Hit and Miss" on delivery times.
back in the early 80s school which was about 6 blocks west of the house mailed letter about parent teacher meeting.meeting was to be 3 days later the letter arrived 11 days later.at least 8 days to late.they could have thrown it out the window and with prevailing westerly winds it probably would have arrived at house.teacher must have thought we were uncaring parents.
