ok I scored a real good deal on a starter for my Tahoe last night, brand new 59.99, 7 dollars shipping, from California to boot!  well senor dickweed refunds my payment, no reason given.  I know the damn reason, he screwed up and quoted the shipping too cheap which is not my fault or my problem, you mess up you take the lumps.  instead he worms out of his part of the deal and screws me over, no recourse on my part.  if he didn't live 5000 miles away I would pound him!

count my blessings?  if it was about not getting my money back you would be amazed at how easily paypal takes back money you got paid, I would have had my money back in minutes if that was the case.

If he was from California, he probably figured Ontario was not too far away. Lol
A number of americans have no clue about any part of Canada.

The problem that I've had is the vendor won't ship to an address other than what is registered/confirmed with Ebay/Paypal. You have to jump through a kazillian hoops to have it sent somewhere else, I'm going through that little deal right now. I just explained to the vendor that the extra shipping and wonderful brokerage fees they (Ebay) automatically impose are a deal breaker. I doubt the vendor will give a flying crap, he won't want to deal with any extra paperwork or effort. I have an address at Port Huron that I have sent stuff to when I'm dealing with someone not selling through Ebay. That has worked out no problem. Ebay has their little game pretty much sewed up, if you want to play, you get to do it by their rules.

Everything I buy is E-Bay  never had a problem with Port Huron address

How you pay for it should not affect the seller     I don't understand why you are not "confirmed"   just takes a home phone call to confirm the address

The problem isn't with the US address, it's the Ebay/Paypal system. Ever notice when you buy something and print out the receipt it will say 'confirmed' or 'unconfirmed' address. A lot (not all)of the sellers won't sell to or ship to an unconfirmed address. When you register with Ebay/Paypal, you supply your mailing address and financial info and they match, (your name, street address, postal code etc.) then your address is confirmed. Make a change to the shipping address (Port Huron) and now you have a unconfirmed address that your trying to use. The seller doesn't have to sell to the buyer because of this, it's not covered by the Ebay Protection system and the seller can get burned if it's a scam or what ever the case may be. A few months ago I changed my Paypal password. What a **** storm that created. My account was shutdown for 5 days, couldn't do anything. The reason...Paypal saw it as a possible security breach. Both good and bad. If you set up your delivery address to your home address like I did years ago, using an alternate address can send everything into a tailspin real quick. I can try to add the US address to my list of 'confirmed address' but that will just be the start of the kazillion hoops to jump through that I mentioned earlier.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but like the title says, This is BS.

Now I see why I have no problem..  My account is a confirmed home address   so never a payment problem

my shipping address is Port Huron which satisfies the US seller...   never a problem  never   (for me)

427CARL,
I do the same thing and have only found ONE company that will definitely NOT accept Canadian payment. When I called them, they said they suffered $75,000.00 dollars worth of fraud dealing in Canada and subsequently won't accept Canadian payment.

I have my shipping address as CBI and it is confirmed as well as my address here in Toronto is confirmed. Not sure how I got it to do that but I switch back and forth all the time shipping here or to CBI.

Try Global Rebuilders in Whitby.
They probably have a rebuilt one to exchange sitting on the shelf, he gives a warranty and his prices are reasonable.

i have many avenues at my disposal for starters, I just like getting smoking hot deals on stuff, money is not really an object for me.  I found a deal and grabbed it, only to be denied by some clown who wont honour the deal he offered, its not like I made an effort to rip him off, he offered a price that I agreed with and paid in full, now hes not holding his end up here.  I wont be denied!

Let's face it, when you bought it you were thinking "man, I'm screwing him on this deal", then, when he realizes he's about to lose his shirt, you're cryin' foul. Whatever ... !!!

Any honest and regular ebay'er would have contacted the seller first to confirm the shipping fees.

In ebay (your account in "my ebay") you have the option to enter a bunch of different addresses. However, whatever you have as your default during the bidding and sale is what the buyer will see. So where buyers say they won't ship to Canada, you want to go into you account and change the default to a US address. You can also do this right on the auction by clicking the "details" in the area where it shows the shipping fees. Clicking "details" will take you to a page where you can change the country to USA and change the zip code and you'll see an instant change in the shipping costs. However this doesn't change the default address so if you win the auction remember to do that and do it in Paypal too.

If you do want something shipped up here but the seller doesn't want the hassle, you should be able to convince him to use ebay's "third party" shipping service and I have to admit that I was impressed at both the speed and the cost the one time I used it.

no that's not what I thought for your info, people tend to rip you on shipping, I found a more realistic price I thought and since shipping is generally posted I bought it, he made the mistake so instead of working with me he wormed out of the deal.  I would have been willing to pay more but instead he gave me no explanation.
