Once again this year The Ratlers Car Club Will be participating in the Big Brothers Big Sisters bowlathon to raise funds for there cuminity work.We hereby challange any other clubs in the Cobourg area to meet or beat either our score or our fundraising.
Date Saturday Feb. 22
Time 2o'clock
Place Cobourg mall bowling alley
This challange goes out to everybody Coasters,Kawartha Street Rods,Country Car Club,Oshawa Aces,The Newcastle Bad Apples,Or anybody who would like to maybe join us under the Ontario Rodders banner(if Poncho doesn't mind)
Each team needs 4or 5 active bowlers and as many rabble rousers as you want .It is for a charity so they ask that every bowler sign a pledge sheet (usually 20 dollars)
We had a good time last year and it would be even better if there were more rodders answering the challange. They have a couple of pay pool tables and they have a L.L.B.O. licence there as well if you are so inclined. Besides what else have you got to do at 2 on a saturday afternoon. Come on out guys and have a few laughs and help raise some money for a good group of people.Let me know if you are interested so I can reserve enough lanes. Thanks guys and gals. Ed
this is a fund raiser that is very near to my heart. Ed knew that i was a big brother volunteer. Connor got a scholarship last year through big brothers and is in his first year of college. this working every other weekend sucks or i would be out bowling. put me down for $20 Ed.

Thankyou Shag for your generous donation. You probably would have laughed at this. When I went into the butcher shop to pick it up I sorta thought I would be getting a cupon for a prize, given where I was, and your business, and having seen some of your previous donations to things. So out she comes with this big cardboard box and an envelope. I look at the box then at her and I was still thinking it was probably some kind of meat. The only thing I could think to say was "do I have to keep it frozen" probably not she replyed its not frozen now and then we opened it to see the tool sets. What a great donation Rick ,when I took them over to the Big brothers they were thrilled to get as they put it ,some guy stuff. A big thanks from the Ratlers. Ed

Porkchop, my origional thought was to challange the other rodders not terrify them. This is quickly getting outacontrol.Thongs and armwrestling at a bowling event. What next maybe Grumpy can do play by play in his radio show voice .I think T.J. plays cigar box guitar,The Boy sings.Maybe Biff,Comander Tom,RatRod Mike and I can clap in unison. This is turning into some kind of circus. Ed

your welcome ed. it's a good cause and one i have supported over the years. i keep an eye on the c.t.c. flyer and when i see 50-60% off on that sort of stuff and my stock is low, i will buy some cases at a time, usually in time for the summer golf tournament season. the owner-manager here in belleville approached me a couple of times some years ago about the quantities i get but when i explained whats up he was ok with it. they lose money on everyone sold as a loss leader item.
gotta ask, is it 5 or 10 pin ? just curious is all.
Its 5 pin Shag,I doubt most of us could throw a 10 pin ball.As it is we have to give Porkchop that ramp and the gutter bumpers that the kids use .Thats the only way he won last year and most important, he doesn't have to bend over in that thong of his. Ed
Well a good time was had by all. The Ratlers gathered or should I say trickled in at various times. Once we finally checked in and got an alley it was game on . I never realized how competive rodders could be at a non automotive event. I guess the idea of being first, fastest,or top score is universal.I've got to hand it to the guys for coming out even though some were nursing various injuries(excuses).Lots of different styles and wierd contorsions throwi the ball but most of the shots actually made it all the way to the end of the alley, easy to do when most of the balls were in the gutter.Fatstax found a luckey way to bowl was to have a hotdog in one hand andthe ball in the other, good for a couple of strikes.I forgot to rent shoes and was ridiculed for my style that Ratrod Mike said reminded him of Fred Flintstone.Buff(Keith) won a prize for picking up a spare or a head pin or something like that and The Boy won a Thomas the Train set( ? )on a luckey score number .He says he is going to pass it on to the nephews(we'll see). Thanks to Sherry for bowling while keeping an eye on T.J who ended up lieing in an alley(the place is licensed) and I guess the only one who was cautioned on behavior was me ,how was I to know a Timmies coffee would cause an international incident(owner called it imported food). It was good to have Shag and Rose show up to cheer us on.Nice people who drove a long way.We were able to raise $250 for Big Brothers, beat the radio station team I challanged(score wise),and managed to get invited back next year(they must be desperate)so all in all a great winter afternoon surrounded by friends and family. Here are the scores.
The Boy 132
Flatblack 125
RatRod Mike 108
BuffKeith 99
FatStax 99
T.J 94
Sherry 90
Ya I guess it did look something like that till rememdered shoes. You had to leave your boots at the alley door and I was so busy trying to get them together that I just forgot to get them. Ed
