Hi, I am an event coordinator at KawarthaFEST and we are organizing an Antique and Classic Car show which will run on Sunday June 22nd, during the weekend of the Peterborough Arts and Waterfront Festival (June 20-22, 2014). I will be posting more information in the Events section when we have the registration forms posted up.
In the meantime, I need some help contacting someone. I saw an old post about a Millbrook car show and I was hoping someone could help me with contact information for "Wild Willy". He DJ'd at Wolfstock 2013's Classic Car show but through the shuffle of staff members we have lost his contact information. Any help would be appreciated.
just saying, Peterborough Arts and Waterfront Festival (June 20-22, 2014)
you might want to snoop this tid-bit. i just heard a rumor that havelock is thinking about a big fleamarket/show to compete with the do in barrie. it 1/2 ass makes sense. i haven't been to barry in years but i hear a whole bunch is just flea market junk. it will be where they do the big country jamboree.
i am just sayin it in case there is some reallity to it and you are banging dates. good luck with it guys i'l be there, home town thing.
probably someone on here might of got a wiffed of it
Thanks for all the "welcome" messages and for the info I needed. I will be posting more info about the Peterborough Arts and Waterfront Festival's Antique and Classic Car show soon. In the meantime, if any of you know of owners of 1948 or earlier autos, please send them to this post and have them respond if they would be interested so I can keep in touch with them. I myself prefer the MUSCLE era but the antiques have a great quality about them and they sure do provide for lots of conversation opportunities! I might note that we are planning to have the 705 Roller Derby Girls and/or Strutt Modeling Agency models out for photo shoot opportunities with the car owners as well.
SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!! see you all at the cruise nights soon!
Another new car show??
If I can give you a bit of advice, don't play the same damn music that they do at all the other car shows. We're all sick of the 50s music!! If at all possible, don't park all the cars so it looks like a mall parking lot at Christmas. Try and be a bit inventive and come up with something that's enjoyable for the participants to do.The derby Girls is an excellent idea, because it's something different. If you follow the same pattern as all the other car shows out there, it will be a failure.
As for the music for the car show, I understand wanting to "change things up" instead of the 50's music, however the way things go, I'm afraid it's majority rules and I'm guessing the majority of people prefer the 50's style.. however only a vote/survey would confirm this.. and DJs can't please everyone unfortunately. This event may still have the 50s music however it will be different from all other car shows because of the other activities going on during the show and from the Roller Derby girls/models being there as well, it will be fun! I have some ideas for a car show that I personally would like to organize but that may be later in the summer at a different location. If that happens, I will post it as I find out more about that too. I'd be happy to hear any replies about music choices/preferences on this thread though so I can pass it along and hope we can make as many people happy as we can!! :)
I think you're wrong that everyone prefers 50s music. Do yourself a favor and start a poll here. This is not 1985 anymore, and most Guys that attend car shows grew up in the 60s and 70s. There was excellent music in those decades.
I would not be happy to go hear just 50's music all day. I'm sure lots of others feel the same.
Would be interesting to see how many others feel the same way via a poll
I wouldn't want to just guess what majority prefers when it came to the expense/work of organising a show and the best ones play a broad variety of music that has something for everyone.
JMO
lol
I can tolerate some 50's but I think a little of everything would better appeal to the broad variety of age groups and men/women/children.
Broadening your scope of pre 1948 vehicles would be nice and also your idea of who actually goes to or participates in these shows is a good idea as well. Like it or not,the demographic is changing and to be successful, you need to change with it.
I started a poll in the "Events" section I believe it was... about the music preferences.. Feel free to go over and "vote" for your favorite.. should be interesting to see what is the end result :)
LOL I can't say I've heard the "Beep Beep" song or I can't think of it right now, maybe if I heard it I'd remember it! But I like your choices.. I myself am a classic rock girl.. and some good not overly played songs from the 70's radio hits as well...some Stones (not the overplayed stuff either), Rod Stewart, Beatles, Doors, Steppenwolf, Three Dog Night, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sweet, etc. but I like a mix, not just the classic rock either..there's so many songs that I LOVE that are from my mom's era that I love too.. stuff that's more obscure, some one hit wonders but great ones.. I can't think of them all now but I'd love to post some songs that I love that many people have forgotten about it but good oldies.. and see what the feedback would be about those songs.. maybe I could start DJing at the shows ;) Hmm!! Not many female DJs in the area I bet!
Everytime I hear that stupid "Beep Beep Song" at car car show, I feel like hanging myself.
Careful Dan..Fatstinks may find you and play that song and the hot rod Lincoln song till you fall to your knees ,then curl up in a fetal position to take advantage of you..
