Was watching the news today, when a thing about our Canadian soldiers came on. The way that these guys/girls get treated by our government, after representing our country is embarrassing to say the least. So I fired off an email to the Governor General telling him so. I ask everyone on this board to do the same. Also send it to all the Canadian people on your contact list.
Contact GG at : armorial@gg.ca
Thanks

I couldn't agree more. A fellow I know spends his life now interviewing vets and making videos for future generations to come.
Everytime I see a soldier I shake their hand and say thank you.
Excellent post.
My son did one tour in afganistan in 08 it was one of the most stressful time of our lives, every day my wife and I would watch the news in the morning and pray he was ok, and hear about IED's suicide bombs and ambushes, and dead and wounded canadian soldiers. Thank god,he came back unhurt....but when we picked him at the ottawa airport they had a red carpet reception and piped them off the plane with everybody in tears..They had stitches bruised, casts, busted up....Turns out the army sent them to Cypris for 'decompression' at a special all inclusive resort for the troops, think free boose after a dry year somebody called sombodys sister a whore and all hell broke loose....
i find it amusing that they have the nerve to state that soldiers returning from service are not the governments responsibility and they dont owe them anything, thats a pretty ignorant statement given i dont recall seeing any of our elected or unelected stiffs over in afghanistan serving this country, seems they only serve themselves.

My oldest son is a Corporal stationed in Quebec right now - I'd send off a nasty letter myself, but I wouldn't want it to cause any extra grief for him...you know digging ditches, breaking rocks, cleaning latrines etc...

He would likely enjoy that - military folks are wired differently than most of us.

Police and OPP and Firefighters get double the wage and much better benefits why The soldiers are not in a Union (and I'm not anti Union) Just saying
Just a bit about a veteran:
My uncle who was 90 at that time, had to take my aunt to the bank.
To make it easier for her to get out and into the bank he parked in the handicapped spot in front.
He's in the car, engine running, along comes a woman cop, and starts ragging him out for parking there, and starts writing him out a ticket.
Uncle explains why, and he'd only be 5 minutes at most.
Woman cop states "Yeah Right!"
Uncle says to this snotty answer, i spent 5 YEARS of my life fighting for your'e GD freedom
and you can't let 5 minutes be taken up?
Cop writes the ticket and hands it to him.
Aunt comes back, and uncle drives straight to the police station, hobbles in and demands to speak to the chief.
The chief listens to the story, then takes the ticket and cancels it. "DUMB Bit*h"!!!!
Sacotu if it was not for people like youI would not have what I have today.THANK YOU Homer
I can't say more then what's already been said. My older brother served many years on the "Terra Nova" for this country, without much recognition.
Not just for my Brother, but for all of you... You Rawk, and thank you, sincerely!
I agree 100% with Homer. Gazoo, the reason I started this thread was not for the recognition factor, but for the fact that our government is stating that they don't owe these soldiers anything if the soldier is injured, maimed, or anything else, while these yahoos in Ottawa/Toronto, pull in these ridiculous pensions, and haven't diddly squat, other that spend lots of OUR money while in Ottawa/Toronto. WHAT THE HELL'S WRONG HERE??
