Andrea has finaly seen the light.. hopefull bill 173 dies on the floor .. And I hope I never hear the word Liberal in my life..and I would like to bury McWynne under one of those wind-turbines..and hang all the rest from a set of spinning blades..Hopefull we see the end of E-test and cut the hell out the MOE budget and lay off a every one of those dirt bags that have been hasseling us..I for one will asking for answers on the promises the Conservatives have promised to do for us in regards to those issues ..Time to start asking for what are you going to do for us..before yah mark the box..
Hahaha. I just wandered over here after seeing the news. Not familiar with Ontario Politics, other than the guys in power right now are NFG.
Lots of catching up to do.
All of them are NFG !! What we need is a new smaller Government. One that doesn't try to control every aspect of our lives right down to minute details. I give it 5 to 10 years and there will be violent uprisings here in Canada and the US, just like the rest of this f-up world.
I concur, lets get rid of wind turbines and in fact everything Liberal that has green attached to it. I'm not against saving the world, but let's think this through and stop all the knee jerk reactions. Don't move any more gas plants, we can't afford it. Get rid of out of date e-tests and forget safety inspections except at time of sale. Stop spending our money like it is yours and start listening to your constituents. There are probably dozens more things but now I have to start thinking where to cast my vote.
Never happen Dan.. Canadians are just a bunch of apathetic whiners ...who are unable to find the polling booth in their riding..

Give it time Chuk !! Things hare not bad enough, yet ! It will be our Kids or most likely our Grandkids that will be in a fight. Things can only deteriorate so much before someone takes action. There's no good paying jobs anymore, homes are not affordable for the upcoming generation and basic things to survive like food, clothing and fuel will use up all of one's earnings that there will be nothing left for quality of life. They're pushing us into a corner bit by bit, or should I say, 10 cents here, and 10 cents there. My weekly paycheck has gone down since 2008, yet EVERYTHING is going up in price. Inflation is OK as long as wages keep pace. It's inevitable.
Have to agree with Chuk on this one. Canadians are nowhere near as aggressive as our southern friends. Passive, lethargic, lazy, sniveling wyners, as I see them. Too damn lazy to vote, but bitch at who ever is in power. Give me a break already.

I am looking forward to an election ,, and it,s about time. The fiberals have cost us a fortune and wynnie hasn,t learned a dam thing. She still thinks spending , is the only way to go.
My problem is who do i vote for as i , like a lot in Niagara have no use for Hudak. He seems to get a bad case of " foot in mouth " disease at election time . I,m not sure about Horwath, I still remember Bob Ray.
For Me I am not going to risk my vote ..I am going with the Conservatives.. They promised to kill E-tests and College of trades and bill 173..Thats a good start that affects me and my wallet directly.. I do understand what your saying about Tim..He is a little hard to like personality-wise..and has a stupid dumb-azz smile..But I am not going to vote based on looks, personality, or rock-star impulse voters.. I am afraid if we split the vote we could end up with a another Liberal Government ..This is an election that I am hoping a lot are just so fed up with all the corruption, scandals and spending and the green energy act crap, the turbines and Solar.. I know you guys can add a ton of liberal crap and scandals to my list .. I do hope most Ontario voters will just hold their nose and vote for the Conservatives so we get a majority Government and then they better do what they say they will..Or I will personally give Hudak a vasectomy With a rusty knife from fatstax's shop..guaranteed to bring a really bad infection...I am not crazy about Hudak although the personal stuff I have researched on him says he is a decent family man and in my view he is the least evil-one and if they do what they say, I will be better off under the conservatives than any of the others..Politics are and always will be a contentious/ arguable and highly hot subject as most are pretty damn passionate about their politics ..So I won't argue with anybody about theirs..This is just my view..I am voting Conservative..

I totally agree !! I see it as a double edged sword. New Canadians seem to get involved and interested in politics, and older Canadians have become too complacent. If we don't get our act together, our ways of life will change to suit theirs.
I just wish the Conservatives would pick another leader before the election ...
After what the Fiberals have been getting away with ... they would do a lot better without Tim Hudak ...
IMHO
Even Hudaks home town rejected him in the by election. The comment page in the local "newspaper" was all negative towards him. I can only hope he has learned from the last election.

I agree with that statement completely, Hudak and some of the things he's been spouting for the last while make it hard to cosy up to him. But he still seems to be of the lesser evil. Horvath just goes with the best bid that gets her what she wants. They all still think they need to govern to us. The job is really to govern for us.

They seem to forget that we elect them to represent us and our views, not some power hungry buerocrat with their own agenda. We, the voters, should insist on the power of recall. It,s about time things changed in the BIG SMOKE and Oddywawa.
Just google Wisconsin 2011 and that will be Ontario if Hudak gets in.Say good bye to good paying jobs both in the private and public sectors.Sure Hudac will make more jobs-like China- paying minimum wage. The politicians will tell you what you want to hear before the election day-then when elected(whoever it is)-will bring out their real agenda.
Keep on cruising!!!

If you don't like the conservatives please do the rest of the province a huge favor and don't vote at all. The non unionized working class will not be able to survive another socialist government.

Uh hellllloooo . I guess you haven,t been to the Niagara area but the only jobs down here are minimum wage. Conservatives OK,d the casinos and the power tunnel , bonus.
Then came Dalton. Game over for Niagara. Liberals did us for 8 years so it,s time for a change.

Well how do you like this Canadian. Time has come for everyone to vote for the candidate not the party.Pick the one with similar views as yours. Doesn't matter if its independant ,or some way out there candidate pick the best individual for your area not the party. We should all be working toward proportional represintation in some form rather than party politics.Stop whining and actually get out there and make a difference. Ed

Not sure, but I think this comment was directed towards me
Yes, I'm a Canadian, by choice I might add, but that doesn't change the fact, that in general, I stand by my post above. Sure, a few of us will talk about the dyck on here, or Tim's, or wherever, but that's as far as it goes. The only way that change will come, is by getting HUGE numbers of people to put up enough of a stink that the powers that be, HAVE TO LISTEN. If I was 20 years younger, I would raise some serious $hit with these clowns. But, what do I know? I'm just a 70 year old dumb ass pool dealer.

sadly , I think most working class adults are often to busy just trying to hold their own lives together much less take on trying to change the world
I know I am and I'm just sitting here trying to look after my father - have been going on 4 years now - I can't stray far from home and I can't be out more than a couple of hours at a time
thankfully I have friends that can drop in fairly regularly
I compleately support the idea of voteing based on personal merrit but what does that get me just another rep who votes along the party lines when told to democracy ?? - more like employment based on popularity good for not much
the party system needs to go - the idea of an official opposition vs governing party is BS all members should be independand and vote as such if a bill passes into law or not shouldn't be some sort of contest - it should be made so because a majority of reps voted in favor of it regardless of their personal views or because of them right vs wrong instead of we want / they want
is it just me or does K-W look like she just crawled outta pink floyd's the wall album ??

I e-mailed Hudaks office awhile back regarding the e-test / bill #173 bullsh*t. Here's the response:
Dear Mr. Mewhiney,
On behalf of Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak, I want to thank you for your email regarding the Drive Clean program. Tim appreciates you taking the time to share your views on this program.
Reducing Drive Clean fees may be good enough for the Liberals and the NDP, but it's not good enough for Ontario drivers who've been forced to fork over their hard-earned money to pay for unnecessary emissions testing for years. Cleaner cars and fuels have rendered Drive Clean redundant. The NDP and the Liberals have signalled that they are willing to do whatever it takes to keep this temporary program running indefinitely.
Drive Clean was set up with the very specific purpose of reducing vehicle emissions that contribute to smog until advances in fuel efficiency and standards caught up. The evidence shows that happened three years ago. From 1999 to 2010, the percentage of vehicles that failed emissions testing in Ontario had dropped from 16% to 5%. With 95% of cars passing emissions testing, the former Auditor General found in his 2012 report that the Drive Clean program had had little to no impact on reducing smog. Instead of listening to the Auditor General's advice and following the lead of other jurisdictions that are phasing out their emissions-testing programs, like B.C., the Liberals went in the opposite direction earlier this year by introducing a new computerized emissions test that is less reliable and more prone to error.
The Liberals made this move knowing that the program, which is supposed to be revenue-neutral, had racked up a massive surplus - that's now $19 million!! Now, that the government has been caught red-handed fleecing Ontario drivers, the Liberals and the NDP want to tinker around the edges of the program to justify its existence. That's unacceptable. The Ontario PC Caucus believes Drive Clean should be scrapped.
About 12,500 Ontario drivers have voiced their opposition to the province's emissions-testing program by signing the Ontario PCs' online petition at www.ScrapDriveClean.ca.
Thanks again for your email.

Never voted Liberal, never will. I too remember Rae days. Doesn't leave much.
Ontario's defecit is currently 11.7 BILLION dollars and the Liberals want to start an Ontario Pension Plan?? !! With what / who's money? As it is a lot of younger folks will never recieve their C.P.P - money they and their employers put away for retirement. Effing government needs a major overhaul. Start with eliminating the Senate. Old Boys rubber stamp club drawing millions off the tax payers, we don't need them.

It's real easy for the idiots (PC's) that introduced the Drive Clean test to now bash it. It was bullshyt when it started and is still bullshyt today.
Now if they truly are willing to get rid of the Bill 173 AND the College of Trades as well, that alone will get my vote. I'll be intently watching for them to give 'real concrete' answers to these issues when questioned. If they flinch or flop even a little the Fiberals will get my vote. I can't afford that "devil".....considering the so called new provincial pension plan or should I call it what it really is, "salary tax" that the Liberals want to evoke on us tax payers with out even consulting us. If a 12 Billion dollar deficit, failed Green Energy act, major companies like Caterpillar, Kellogg's and Heninz leaving the prov, over a billion wasted on the gas plant issue plus how the Liberals stated that they wanted to fund medically necessary health care and then quickly delisted eye exams and physiotherapy out of OHIP......I could go on but one of my favourite broken promises was when McGinty was first elected..... he promised he wouldn't raise taxes and then turn around brought one of the highest tax increases in this provinces history not to mention the huge inflated costs of electricity over the past few years......so I believe it's definitely time for a big change......please get out there and vote and please get informed on the real issues.....we all desire much better representation then we have all received over these past years......bring back accountability.

What the opposition says to get elected is not always what they do after theyre elected, especially if theres money involved.
makes a nice 1100-1200 dollar oil bill every month this past winter
a 15% reduction in insurance rates - for one year , after the libs let them jack the rate by 30 somthing percent
cost of electricity - going up even more than the already inflated cost now
debt
scanndel
change only comes from bloodshed - Idono about that - ask a soviet - didn't work for them
we managed to become an independant nation without it - the americains - they're the ones that think someone needs to bleed to get things done
money in the right places changes everything - probably why the move is on to make sure "the common people" have little or none
the old saying money talks and BS walks is kinda backwards
more like BS keeps on talking and talking while the money walks or runs away
K-W and her "conversations" - while big industry packs up and moves would seem to be the best example of this

Big industry packed up and moved years ago when "free trade " was implemented . How many hundreds of thousands of jobs went south to U S or Mexico. I know around here good paying jobs just dried up as industry went away . Another key factor was the cost of Hydro which i have a hard time figuring out because we produce it here.
I agree - free trade took the leash of but the situation now is chaseing buseness that chose to stay out
anyone remember ontario hydro? and the ,mandate that it started with ? - to provide cheep power to residents and industry
yeah we need to bring that kind of thinking back
I,m not sure, { its an age thing) but if i remember correctly it was harris who changed the structure of Hydro against many who said it would be more expensive and
sited California and several other states tried a similar plan and it failed to bring rates down.
Dayum! That was a LOT of reading, whew! Final words...Hopefully they will be gone, hopefully someone "capable and honest ", will replace them. I really don't have much faith, in ANY politician ".", (That is a period between the quotation marks).
I'm just sick and tired of making ends meat, and volunteering to help people when I can, just to get kicked in the nuts for trying.
Just sayin', that's my view on our elected loosers.
Wish I would've stayed in school, and learned their trade.

We had our share of bloodletting though nothing on the scale of our neighbours to the south . Very few even know about the sea battles of hudson bay. If it wasn't for king George's charter to the company of adventurers Canada would not exist.

On April 24, 2014, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne announced that the Debt Retirement Charge (DRC), a 0.7 cent-per-kWh charge on Ontario electricity consumers, would be terminated at the end of 2015. The Premier described this as a move that would "bring significant rate relief". Is this true?
As background, the 0.7 cent charge may sound small, but it isn't. It collects about $900 million every year from Ontario electricity ratepayers. The charge was introduced in 2002 to pay for the "residual stranded debt" of the former Ontario Hydro. The original residual stranded debt, back in 1998, was $7.8 billion.
In the 2012 Ontario Budget, it was revealed that, up to March 31, 2012, the Ontario government (through the Ontario Electricity Financial Corporation) had collected $12.8 billion dollars as a result of the debt retirement charge. In the fall 2013 Update, the Finance Minister reported that, although about $1.5 billion more had been collected to that point in time, the remaining residual stranded debt was $11.3 billion. So, after paying about $14.3 billion to retire a $7.8 billion debt, Ontario ratepayers still owed $11.3 billion. This amazing arithmetic is due to the Ontario government's addition of interest to the original amount owing and its switching of certain costs incurred by Ontario Hydro's successor companies unto the "residual stranded debt account".
This is a story that the Ontario Auditor General may someday want to investigate. Let us return, however, to the claim that removing the DRC will result in significant rate relief.
By the end of December, 2015, the DRC will have collected $15.5 billion, so Ontario ratepayers will have paid almost double the original $7.8 billion owing.
Just one year ago, the Ontario Energy Board approved an electricity (i.e. commodity charge) rate increase that cost the average ratepayer $3.63 a month, or $44 annually. It followed that with another increase in November 2013 raising rates by $4.00 per month, or $48 annually. Then, on April 1, 2014, there was another increase of $2.83 per month, or $34 annually. Those increases did not include rate increases for the "delivery" or "regulatory" lines on our electricity bills, which also increased. So, in just one year, the electricity rates jumped $126 annually and Wynne's announced rate relief won't happen until the end of 2015.
2015 just happens to also be the year the Ontario Clean Energy Benefit (OECB) ends. The OECB reduces the average bill by $13.30 per month or $160 annually. Ontario's taxpayers pay it, so it is a subsidy from residents' right pockets to their left pockets. The average bill (electricity, or "commodity charge " only) at the start of 2016 will thus be $286 higher on an annual basis than it was as of April 30, 2013. Adding the HST brings the increase to $323. There will also be further increases from the Ontario Energy Board's scheduled rate setting on December 1, 2014, May 1, 2015 and December 1, 2015; those will add a minimum of $100 to homeowners' electricity costs.
In other words, the average residential bill will have jumped by approximately $425 per year. That represents a 25% increase in electricity rates in two years before Premier Wynne's "significant rate relief" of $160 per year occurs. Just as the DRC is ended, another scheduled charge from the recent announcement (aimed at reducing energy poverty) of $11 will be added.
By December 1, 2015, our electricity costs for residences will be charged out at over 21 cents per kilowatt (kWh). That will only get worse as more contracted wind and solar plants enter the grid. Add in expected increases in the "delivery" and "regulatory" lines, tack on HST and all-in costs will be in the neighbourhood of 30 cents a kWh! Ontario residents will be challenging Germany and Denmark for the privilege of having the most expensive rates in the industrialized world.
