I had a great road trip Saturday to the Eastern side of the Big City from my end in the West.

My main goal was to pick up the 348 from Candy-Man and stop in on a few pals along the way. A bonus was the Port Hope cruise night riding shot-gun with Hemi34 (awesome car Dan, just awesome) with good pal Sacotu in behind in the tried and true bad ass 55 GMC. At the cruise we met a few of the other O-R cats and snapped a picture.

Me, Hemi34 and Sacotu in the first pic.

Scruffre, Sacotu, Hemi34, me, DaveM, Flatblack55 and Fatstax in the second pic.

Cool evening gents, thanks Steve, Dan and Dave for making me welcome. See y'all soon.IMG-20140510-00332.jpgIMG-20140510-00337.jpg

Sure hope I never have to endure a hug from fatstax..holy cow man when you go to a Kruze night with some pals, a bar of soap, some clean clothes and a hair comb would be a good start to look at least like you didn't just crawl out from a junk yard...or just get off your chain...biggrin

it was great to see ya again Chris. it was a good day for me, spend the forenoon in the garage rebuilding carbs (sorry Dave), had you drop in with a 348 in the back of your truck (nice score on the intake), motor off in the 55 down to dans (gotta love the overdrivein the t5), speeding the late afternoon in a garage shooting the breeze with other auto enthusiast at Dans. then off to a cruise following the 28 down the back highways to port hope and supper (thanx for supper) gotta love pizza pizza. i even had time to hit GT boutique on the way home to pick up a mother day gift for today.

I am guessing your lawn chair probably matches your shiney paint job and your feather duster is never out of reach . Given your superior fashon sense, please oh wise one tell us what is the required attire for the approately dressed rodder this year. Ed

Hey the cool thing about the Port Hope vintage tin gathering(just can't bring myself to say cruise night) is the local radio station 89.7 has set up a show just to go along with it. You can phone in any requests and they play songs that are unusual. Really cool of them to get behind it. Ed

It was good to get out to see y'all.

First time this year riding in a carbureted vehicle. I found it nostalgic, and not as bad as I remember. No anxiety at all this time. wink

Something stood out as wrong , after closer examination Ive came to the conclusion that stax's is sporting common hole digging dirt . Not auto related at all. My god man have some pride. Second infractions are punishable by being keel hauled under a Dodge. ...... To scary to even think of .

Best of my knowledge, there was nothing broken, or on the verge of breaking. And mostly from a guy who is in search of perfection, (a bit anal maybe)wink.

To be quite honest, I've put a 9" Ford under my '38 Dodge, and it will be coming out ASAP.

It was simply cheaper and faster to buy an axle that was the proper width, then to get an 8 3/4" width modified to fit.

So yes, I will have a late '50's Ford 9" for sale in the near future, complete, drum to drum.

So, you didn't say, when was the last time you were under a Dodge, fixing it?biggrin

The last time I was under a dodge (1968 Plymouth barracuda formula S) was 1986

checking for a spun bearing, turns out it was a broken c clip on the piston pin and wore

a hole thru the cylinder wall . 2ND  340 I had that happen. put it back together ,

sold it and never looked back piece of shiit 340's , I am looking for another 68 cuda

but will put a 5 liter , 5 speed ford in it biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Maybe next time you should have a professional rebuild your engines for you. Someone that knows how to properly install a C clip.

So you're saying the 340 is a crappy engine because an aftermarket piston and a used  C clip destroyed it !! Hmmmm..... That ain't Chrysler's fault..nono

I've rebuilt a SBC, a small block Ford and a few small Mopars, and I'm sure anyone else that has will agree that the small Mopar is a superior, and stronger engine. Unfortunately it's not the most popular or cheapest to rebuild.

There's a reason 340 blocks and parts are hard to find

and it's not because they are all in the hall of fame

they were notorious for blowing up . I went through 5 motors in 5 years

I swear to god the things had square crankshafts .

Dodge made some of the most reliable cars ever , what about the K car went years past , you wanted it to and they have been major trend setters , what would life be like without a herd of Mini vans . I have to admit I have never been under one to fix it. I always preferred to just sign the ownership over and leave it on the drivers seat.

just to clarify things, i literally was working on a truck at my shop when i was asked if i would be attending the cruise, i didnt see much sense in going home, getting cleaned up to  go to the cruise, go back to my shop to continue working on said truck only to filth up more clothes.

When I'm focused on getting something done in the garage, I usually close the garage door and wear nothing but an extra large pair of adult diapers. No clothes get dirty and no wasted time with silly bathroom breaks.

Bet you guys are glad I wasn't invited  biggrinbiggrin
