Yes…no problem. for an extra $5 per person.. you can attend on the Friday and stay overnight..no power hook ups.

You can come on the Saturday and camp over too.

We must have everyone cleared out Sunday by noon.

So… come Friday and Camp--$25 bucks per person--till Sunday morning.

come Saturday and camp overnite $20 bucks per person.

Friday night will be mellow.. campfire going on,some tunes playing and setting up.

Saturday is the day.. it will go LATE into the night12- 2 a.m. or later...

and remember fellas…ANYONE can attend.we have the traditional lot and an alternative lot.

Thanks guys!

So... let me get this straight... can anyone attend?

:D

I'm towing my unfinished, non-running carcass of a shoebox up and I'll plunk it wherever the heck they tell me to. Then I'm planning to pitch a tent wherever the heck they tell me I can, crack open a frosty, non-glass container of my favourite beverage, listen to some kick ass music, talk to lots of friends, check out a bunch of great cars, maybe get rained on or not, maybe get a sunburn or a skeeter bite, eat some grub, drink another frosty beverage or two, sleep once or twice then pack it all up and go home with a big ol' smile on my face.

I'll be there Saturday and camping. I'm bringing the 62 Cutlass and park where they tell me. Just not enough time to get 'Dog Spit' ready. What an opportunity to see historic hot rods and recall the glory days.

I will be driving in early Saturday morning in a convoy with at least 3 other rods from the Barrie area. We will all be in the "traditional" parking area, pre-registered months ago!
If you have any doubts as to whether you qualify as 'traditional', send them an e-mail with a picture of the vehicle, Jay is very quick with his replies.

Thanks to Jay, Jeff, and Brandon for putting on a great show! These guys worked hard throughout the downpours, always smiling and trying to make the best of it. The venue was really neat. The musical Trio in the early afternoon was fantastic, really kept the crowd enthused. Lots of great cars, both Canadian and American.
Terrific job Guys!!

Like the others have said above, great job guys. Despite the soggy weather it was a great show, I managed to take a few pics before it really started raining:

Thanks Jeff, Jay and Brandon.  What an awesome show.  Who even noticed the rain with the great bands and incredible cars with their owners to talk to.  And the icing on the cake is I won the best door prize, a mounted and framed Norwell print.  This show is a keeper.  By the way, I had to park my Cutlass in the alternative lot which was 25 feet away from the action.  No sweat.

My print.

We arrived Fri evening,, in great time to settle in.. I expected to be pointed to the camping.. as I brought the 74 Westfalia..
but Jay pointed out,, they WANTED a cool car like that in the "B" lot...smile the show area!  which is really right beside the "A" parking area[s]
I didn't want to set up camp, and have to move,,I'd rather just leave it in the camping area...then it was suggested to just camp in the "B" lot.!!  wow , how accommodating for a Traditional Rod show..!!
A suprizing number of Rods were already there fri night.. everyone enjoying a cruise night atmosphere... with great weather, and perfect lighting as the sun was setting... the cars lined up at the saloon make a awesome photo op! ...
A number of the folks posed with one of the cars , or friend... the bikes there parked in the foreground , and a pro snapping the pic the "traditional way" !!!! ,,, a LONG shutter time and a large aperture.. for those who don't know what that means.... NO movement for 30 seconds till the picture is done developing!  hold your pose,, wait, wait, wait ,keep holding it!!.. don't breathe!  ... ok! done
The Saloon was hoping with music..[ipod], beverages in hand while chatting, and viewing cars on display already..  Awesome !!
A lot of planning went into using this Venue... thoughts like ensuring NO BONFIRE .. so their wouldn't be soot all over the cars.. small fires were ok,, and the firewood was there to accommodate that ! ...  They had the grader run the driveway pot holes out of town.. so even tho it was gravel,, it was smooth ride in!
Loads of potties, ice on site, firewood, circus tents for vendors, and food, and outdoor lighting for the bands....grass trimmed in the show areas,, garbage cans emptied before becoming a mess... Friday night was AWESOME!
Saturday ... one of the best part of being there early,, was watching [and hearing] HOT RODS drive in !!
9am started with a line that snaked thru the fields and valleys ... it wasn't too long, the guys on gate got organized and MOVED them in! .. a few hard decisions were made to park in the "B" lot.. not many tho.. confuse maybe some stayed away.. but it is right beside the main area... I didn't hear any complaining from anyone at the show.. wink
I saw plates from Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Maryland was ingenious,, X JALOPY , where the X was used as the crossed sticks of 2 checkered flags..  the flags were stickers added as a custom mod... COOL!
The Bands set up inside the saloon , which set the party in motion again !  The music had the crowd moving!  A couple from Buffalo got to join in, play his guitar while his beau did the vocals...  she was spiffed up as a pin up girls.. here was her dressing room!
Saturday was AWESOME! it didn't end till about 3 am for a lot! lol
and as other have said! Jeff , Jay , and Brandon did it well.... they all came individually and wanted to know if we were have a good time..?  all i could say is.. let's do it TWICE next year!!  biggrin
Sunday came,, and as Candy Clark says... time to "PEEL OUT"

20 bucks for three bands and a car show as well, Excellent Value !

Too bad some believe they are being discriminated against, however; I don't know if this is really the case. There are three parking lots, one for daily drivers, a second lot for non-traditional hot rods and a third lot for traditional hot rods & customs. What is wrong with a high tech billet street rod, "nothing", however; it will have to be parked in the non-traditional parking area.

I wonder if the organizer advertised there was a special area off to the side for the parking of Ole' Skool Rods & Kustoms for example, would that have created such a storm, I don't think so......

Why not be attend with your vehicle you have poured numerous hours of sweat into and park in the approperiate parking lot ? Nothing nicer than a 60's VW Bug slammed to the ground, however; not a traditional hot rod, and what is wrong with the VW parking in the non-traditional lot ?  Sorry, I fail to understand.....

Warren your ride is certainly a great looking - traditional hot rod and does not have easter egg pastel, neon or 80’s style monochromatic paint ! Drive it just like you did when you were a kid and you will have a blast again.....

Congrats guys on what looks like an awesome event! Sorry I missed it, but as a Piston Pusher, we had our 60th banquet that night, otherwise I know we would have been there in numbers.
Hopefully you guys run this again next year.

Wow! Thanks for postin the pics!!! I've been offline for a while as summers are a busy time for carpenters...plus I added another girl to my family. lil' Violet was born July 1st 6am! So needless to say, having a 2 yr old plus new born, I haven't had much time for anything else! However I had the sudden urge last week to log into the forum to see whats shakin, but didn't until now...and low and behold I see I miss the ONLY CAR SHOW I wanted to goto!!! WTF?! Just my luck! But thanks to some of you who posted those kickass pics, and shared stories of the wknd! it helped me visualize myself being there!! I do live vicariously thru most of you anyway so...next year tho I will be there for sure!!! and I wanna try arriving in a rod of my own! but my wife might have somethimg to say about that!!!

Thx for Jay and the guys that make this show possible! and those that shared it with us less fortunate!

Cheers!

Brandon, Jeff and myself are going to mark the date and you will have to make it next year man! Congrats on your newborn daughter too.

I hope you don't move it ahead a week as then it would be the same weekend as the ELTA London bash.

Bob, Not to worry. We also attend and support the ELTA BASH. We would never think about having it at the same time. Personally the ELTA BASH is one of our favourite yearly events too. Jay Tyrrell

Before all three of us left Frontier Ghost Town we sat down and reflected about The First Jalopy Jam Up. Needless to say, we are still in awe of what was accomplished in a short amount of time with the help of our families, friends, and all of you.

First off, we would like to thank our combined families and friends who stood by while we met throughout the year, hashing out plans to create Canada's First Pre-64 Traditionally Styled Hot Rod and Custom Car Show. Without your love and support this dream wouldn't have gotten off the ground.

We also would like to thank all those participants who took a chance on us and pre-registered ahead of the actual show! We really appreciate that you believed in us and you helped us make the mark months before the show even happened.

We also would like to thank everyone that made the rainy journey and registered on the day of the show and the general public who stood there with us with smiles on their faces as rain poured all around the beautiful traditionally styled Hot Rods and Customs that sat on display last Saturday. I personally won't ever forget hearing someone in the crowd say "They just keep coming and coming. I have never seen something like this before. It is like this show is a magnet!"

We would also like to thank our sponsors Mothers Wax, Performance Improvements and Interstate Battery.
Like the participants of the show, Cliff Waller from Mothers Wax, Bob and Rob McJannet and Mike Bennett from Performance Improvements and Joe Kiss and the Promotional team from Interstate Battery took a chance on us and whole heartily threw their support behind us with swag and support through the planning of The Jalopy Jam Up.

A big thanks goes to Chuck Vranas from Street Rodder Magazine, Terry Denomme from Canadian Hot Rod Magazine, John from The Department of Style and Mark Sergison from North American Hot Rodder and Ashley Gillick from Candee Visuals for covering the show in a number of different print, electronic, and social media aspects on the day of The Jalopy Jam Up. We appreciate all of you being in our corner urging us along with your support and wisdom.

We also can't forget the independent vendors that decided a long time ago when it was just an idea to get involved. Guys like Marc Chezepock from Art One who mounted a few beautiful prints for us of Jeff's hot rod art or Danno Druin who pin-striped a beautiful panel for the draw table, barbers Jonathan Roth and Tristan Amour of Crowsnest, and Mike Piotrowski from Old Skool Kool.

Thanks goes to all those that made long distance trips from Eastern and Western Canada and the United States. When I asked a guy what made him come to the show he said "To be apart of something new and special and because I love to put miles on my Hot Rod!" Great response!

One group that we can't forget to thank that brightened up the rainy day and who played into the night in the Saloon were the musical artists. Thanks goes to The Hellbent Rockers, the Royal Crowns, and The Millwinders for playing on the day of the show. You guys really know how to bring music and the car culture together.

Special thanks goes to guys like Dan Couture, Rick Medland, Glen Mason, and Keith MacIntyre that became so passionate that they literally built or finished cars that met our criteria just because they wanted to be part of the happening.

A shout of thanks goes to Neil Lounsbury and Ivo and the staff at The Grill for feeding everyone with unbelievable great tasting food options that none of us have personally have never seen being offered at any type of car event before in all three of our car show experiences.

Thanks to The Lead Kings Car Club. Sheri Roberts for running the store for us this year and the people that at the last minute stepped up and took initiative and helped out on the day of The Jalopy Jam Up. We also can't forget Rob Purcell of The Miller Group and Steve Filsinger from Sign Needs too.

As the dust settles on The First Jalopy Jam Up Frontier Ghost Town now sits quiet. Gone are the Traditional Hot Rods and Custom works of art on wheels, the laughter of people in the rain with big smiles on their faces as they make new and rekindle old acquaintances and the musicians have now gone too. The town now is empty of the spirits. The spirits of the people that made The First Jalopy Jam Up a success. The only thing that prevails now is the chorus of crickets singing about the long dog days of summer that are now soon to end too. Jeff is back working tirelessly in his studio thinking about how time flies while Cindy and him also busily gets their daughter Maddie ready for her first day of high school. Brandon is back home in Cambridge with his wife Sheri willfully participating in WWF style wrestling matches with his son Ben on a nightly basis, and my wife and I sit in the woods up north away from the noises of daily grind of the cityscape ready to celebrate the first birthday of my daughter as loons mingle across the lake. Three different guys leading three different lives. One thing that is close to the surface and on all of our minds is The Second Annual Jalopy Jam Up. We are already making plans. So again, from the bottom of all our hearts thank you once again and stay tuned! You won't want to miss the next one!
