These  three statements tell you a lot about government and  culture:

1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims  by the actions of a few lunatics,
but we  are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few  lunatics.
 Funny  how that works.

And another statement for  consideration--

2.  We constantly hear about how  Canadian Pension Plan (CPP) is going to run out of money.
How come  we never hear about welfare running out of money?
What's  interesting is, the first group "worked for" their money, but  the second didn't.

Finally ..

3.  Provincial Social Services is proud to be distributing this year  the greatest amount of free money ever .
Meanwhile, the Parks  Branch, asks us "Please Do Not Feed the Animals."
The  stated reason for this policy is because....
"The  animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to  take care of themselves."

That ends Today's Lesson On  Irony

Years ago employment insurance was called  UN employment insurance and it was in case you became unemployed it would supply an income.  So what do you think Employment insurance is for?

That's what happens when you elect teachers and ex government employees to run the province. It's sad that there is enough tax supported employees and welfaries to give a corrupt government a guaranteed majority were 90% of the province has no representation. It pays more to be on welfare than to work (the new full time, 28hr, week) for min wage. Need a raise just **** up another kid. Disgusting.

I am forever thankful that I live in a country where our sick and disabled have their living and medical expenses covered. I am also proud that we as a society will offer a helping hand to adults who are having a tough time of it. But the blatant ripping off of these Social Services, therefore our taxpayers money IS disgusting.

I really wish that our leadership would set a better example. I hope that every Civil Servant who has overcharged or miss-spent on their expense/"petty cash" accounts is losing some sleep.
The recent "rash" of civil government workers being investigated by the RCMP is disheartening. Elected government officials have a pretty good life. They are put in positions of power by the public and are expected to spend our money wisely.

Not to:
-book extra people using false names on government flights, then cancel the false names just to have more privacy for you and your daughter, on the 48 flights you flew with your daughter, and the 2 flights you sent her by herself.

-Go to international funerals, send a card instead

-take a job with government and then file for expenses involved with living too far away. Move closer, you can afford it.

-Say that you charged $10,000 to your expense account, when in fact the bill to us taxpayers was over $50,000.

-spend over $1,000,000 for a painting of a red band over a black background

If our "leadership" rips us off, why shouldnt everyone else? I thought we as Canadians were a bit better than this?

El Toro- Dont even get me started on "teachers".

so as the old song said. "Who is gonna collect my welfare to pay for my Cadillac?"
I have declared a moratorium on worry and angst here. Now my only goal is not to be stupid myself (and some days that is a full time job!). I hold all the above mentioned up as a bad example.

My daughter works for OPG and she has an excellent drug and medical plan. A friend of mine is a teacher who has an excellent drug and medical plan. My step son works for an Ontario Government department and he has an excellent drug and medical plan. Another friend of mine is a retired GM worker who has a drug and medical plan that far exceeds the medical plan of any of the above mentioned people I know. Maybe we should be pointing the finger at GM employees because they have the best medical plan or if we are so jealous of teachers, maybe some of you could become teachers. After all, it is a free country that allows any of us to work in any field that we wish to.

Teachers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fire them all...... replace them with iPads...... kids would learn more.

Snowday..... teachers should stay safe at home if it's not safe enough for buses.....while min wage tim workers risk their life to get to work to serve the legal drug to teachers off for a snow day? How are teachers worth any more than a min wage earner????

No one is worth any more than another person and everyone has an opportunity to work at whatever they are qualified for. I would suggest the "min wage earner" enroll at the local Faculty of Education and step up to the plate to improve our current education system. There's no point in complaining about something unless we are prepared to help improve it.

Wow! How did a joke pointing out social inequities turn into a teacher bashing thread? Not my original intention.

 And the GM workers bashing

Bruce Rossiter wrote

Boy are you misled..

After 30 years of GM  factory life my body is worn out and my benefits are not enough to take the pain away or treat it.

Thanks for " pointing a finger" but you are wrong.

Pointing a finger and stating an example are two different things.

I guess my GM friends lied to me about their medical benefit plans.

>>>"I would suggest the "min wage earner" enroll at the local Faculty of Education "

and......... how does the family live while in school ?

a famous saying by overpaid people that have a job...
" ah.. go get a job, I have one"

pay teachers minimum wage.

TMJ, you know what they say, everyone has an opinion and an a-hole, and both usually stink.. just like the "pay teachers minimum wage" comment.

Just comes from a place of ignorance.

I'm glad as hell I put my efforts into IT, an industry where I didn't have to wear my body out to earn a living. My mind.. well.. Never mind that.

At 85 I don't have to much to do in the morning ( afternoons are alright) so I usually stay up to 2 or 3am and sleep until 11ish. Tonight I happened to be going thru the previous posts and all the x I thought the posts were US originated. As we are having exactly the
same problems it would probably be interesting if we could involve some Europeans in the
discussion.Im afraid we would find out no matter where we went ,at least in democracies
where officials are elected free $ gains votes and keeps them. In most of the others it's probably a fear of riots by the free $ recipieients. Carr
