ACD is alright with me. You indeed have made this winter a little shorter. Thanks

ACD in the former head offices of the Auburn Automobile Co.

My Wife wants me to buy her this one.

And now for a short tour.

This Ruxton was a work of art.  Also very rare.

The future .  The American Sports Car (1948). The one and only (never made it to production).  http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2008/11/21/more-from-auburn-the-one-and-only-tasco-prototype/

FWD

Design Clay Models.

When you walk out the side door you can turn to the right and walk back to the National Auto and Truck Museum.   They have some neat stuff in there..

Now the ACD may not be for everyone, but, these were high end cars back in the day.  Great engineering and craftsmanship.  It's well worth a look.

There's a sign above the Stude roadster that says "Studebaker 1852 to 1963.
The last Studebaker was built in 1966 in Hamilton and is now in the Studebaker museum in South Bend.

I don't think the US knows that.   If they didn't build it , it never was built.   I hit that at the drags with a 1966 Malibu SS 283 4 speed car, it was Canada only in 66 and early 67.

 A movie mock-up.

I saw one of these old hoists in a junk yard.

Lotsa stuff to look at just behind the ACD.

The Original Chevy Nomad was to have a roof like this, but, GM decided no.

Curtis Wright rotary engine in a Mustang. Interesting.
Studebaker made engines under contract to Wright for B-17's during WWll.

Some really nice sheet metal and memorabilia in these pics. Thanks. That Stude wagon with retractable panels.......I'm pretty certain I saw a flat black / Turquoise wagon like that in Dunnville a couple years back.

A real "General Lee"  The sign said the show went through 240 cars, they had 19 at the end and kept 2 then sold off the rest. This car was one of the 17 that was sold.

A model of one of the Motorama Buses .  The real one is displayed on the lower level of the museum, but, as luck would have it they were painting the floor in that area when I was there.

If you are ever in the Auburn Indiana area put these places on your list of things to do.

Here we are on March 15th of 2015.  The "Winter" is about gone and spring is near.

This Summer "May all of your lights be Green".

I hope these pics helped some people with the winter blues .
