I won't post up pictures of my own cars, for fear of shutting down the internet, but here is a great looking "Cab Forward" design that I like the stance on:

good eye shag. yes the car originally came from belleville.
thought so. its a unique car, studebaker, for dragging. he just got in deeper and deeper trying to go faster and listening to too many people telling him how. i actually thought about buying it because it is somewhat of a unique drag car but i didn't want to get into a full on drag car. glad to see it ended up at a good home. if you get down to armdrop next summer maybe we can give it a go with my chevelle, be gentle on me i'm an old guy. lol

hahaha, shag, i think i'm one of the youngest guys in ondr, and i'm 61 lol. next season i hope to get the new house to the stage where i can take the time to do some events. even though the 355 in the car now works well i'm thinking about a dart block standard bore 400 in a couple of years time. i got a good deal on the stude and am really in love with it.

You're right, 61 is about average for ONDR, although I know at least 3 members in their mid 50's.

Love that 'Stude.....but since it's a Ford thread how 'bout a 347 Ford for power?, lol.

i agree, sorry, it got off track
Heck, don't be sorry. I love the 'Stude............I just think it'd be really cool with a Ford in it, lol. When I was a kid one of my Uncles had a 289 Lark. That car was a blast.
if i did go with ford power, i think i'd like a windsor based 393 stroker. a friend has one in a real sweet 70 mustang. built by a local engine guy it performs beautifully.

same guy built one of them for a buddy of mine down here. its in a beautiful 66 fairlane, it will boogey. apparently you can stretch them out into the 427-8 range. he would sell it but it won't be cheap.
My next money pit!!! I mean roadster I am going to go with the sixty's theme on this 34 and am wondering what engines were run at that time? I want to go flattie with a 5 speed stick but am wondering what other options there are. Hemi, I know there was a few Caddy's that might be a good one for me,would love to have a side oiler
Randy
One of my other 34's I built.
I got into a lot of trouble putting this on the valve covers so I changed them and put on the Ford V8 emblem with HO 5L well it is a 305 !
Early 60's had the small block Chev. . as the engine of choice followed by the Buick, Olds, and Cadillac v\8 's . There were others such as y block Fords. Dodge, Desoto and Chrysler hemi's, even Studebaker [ as well as flatheads] but for one reason or another they were not as popular.

back in those days the buick nailhead was a pretty popular choice.

this is none of my G_D business and i know it but. what ever way you go please don't cross breed if at all possible.
.02 cents rick
Yes Rick thats why I was asking so I could get all the idea's and go from there. I've had nearly every car or truck anyone could want from a '56 pontiac with a straight axle,409 when I was 12 to a high dollar 32 at 55 but I've always been a sucker for roadsters and with my age creaping up there I want a car that can last me without going out of style.Kinda like a old pair of shoes that fit well and you don't want to discard them. I won't be getting this car on the road for a couple more years. I have an idea of what I'm going to do but there is nothing worst than changing direction half way through a build.
i don't know enough about ford other than the obvious. flattie-289-312-390-427-8-9. there are others also, 260-292-332 and probably more that are not as main stream. big block or small block would help whittle it down maybe to. there is a guy down this way with a 390 tri-power in a fairlane that looks pretty cool. -sorry for chirping randy as it is your car. the only person here that has to be happy/satisfied is you. whatever way you go with it make sure you are enjoying it and having some fun with it. when i get done on the galaxie i have one more i want to do, 40 poncho coupe, in storage and i am hoping the last one. i've been stashing parts for a couple of years now and i honestly still haven't made a definite engine choice. -good luck bud whatever way you decide. rick

Hey Ran, as Rick mentioned, how 'bout Ford in a Ford. Here's an interesting starting point, 2.3, turbo......and before everyone goes to thinking we're strickly Ford here our oldest son did an early Dakota 5.2 and our youngest son has a '76 Ventura. Our daughter has an '89 Mustang ragtop but her husband is starting on a Grand National clone. We're all over the map, lol.
P.S., you didn't say whether your're running open or closed hood, might make a difference.
This was my last car that I built and it's all Ford with a one piece hood top no sides, but I'm envious of the rat rod boys and flat paint-primer so this car was going to be a park anywhere, please step on the running boards type car,I have a four piece louvered hood I was thinking of running.Love the turbo 2.3!
