And here I was, resisting the urge to post a BMW thread!!  hahahahaha. If my 76 BMW with EFI conversion, 175hp ex: gt2 race car engine, 12 inch front rotors etc etc doesn't qualify as a hot-rod of sorts then i'm confused. ;)

The winds of change are blowing in the hot-rod world...most of us will never sell our cars/rods/toys for half of what they might have sold for 20 years ago..as the baby boomers old gray bearded, toothless, bald,  old fart can rodders ,run low on dough, we will b trying to unload our old dinosaurs as yard art....I been watching a few similar to a few I own and thought they might bring some cash in my old senior, senile, broke years ... I can see now with insurance and most kids only interested in apps, and a face book ,  twitter, instigram account or some other social media device ..that ain't never gona happen..The ones I have been watching are first class great built cars for sale at about 30% of what it cost to build and they are not selling ..Whats up with that ??? Times are changing even though a few of us are still hanging in ,we are a dying breed..of old junk hoarders..I see a lot of younger guys drool over my cars but they mostly admit even if I gave to them they could not sustain the maintenance or the upkeep let a lone the insurance or storage for long..My one I mentioned That I would just give him one said straight up ..Dad thanks but I would rather you sell it and just give me the cash..!!!!!!! I have loved all my cars, some restored, rodded, specila interest, and I never had as many as I wanted..I am wishing I had all the cash in bank account that I spent on them..Damn I could retire in a Acura,Lexus, ..but never in a BMW...karel...biggrin

That hot rodded 2002 is legend. And Chuck, I don't recommend a BMW newer than 2003ish... and that may be pushing it.

We'll see what nightmares await with our 2002 wagon. Dad's 1991 BMW M5 is about 240,000 miles and still going strong. It was hand built by the M division. Last of the models where they did that. Probably makes some difference.

Yes, well I'm at least one "young" guy who can drool and maintain. I expect years down the line i'll be picking up some cheap rods at estate sales or auctions. Who knows.

Man 30% and not selling. That's a heart breaker.

quick shots of the engine and brakes. Brakes are wilwood superlite 4 piston calipers with 11.75x1.25 wilwood rotors and custom hats to fit the BMW spindles. Originals are like 8-8.5 inch, not vented. at the time the wilwood upgrade was cheaper than doing OEM brakes, calipers were $500 a peice, superlites were like $150. The hats a racing friend had made, I had some mounts made.. and away we go.

Engine is 11.5:1, 316 cam with electronic fuel injection forged pistons, a more modern intake and large throttle body, custom megasquirt EFI system with soon to be coil on plug ignition. It'll have independant ignition and spark, so I can do things like individual fuel trim per cylinder.

The car is also getting a race capture/pro race telemetry system. Progress is slow of course.. but it's a technological wonder.

Now you see why I enjoy that 1949 dodge so much? I've done the whiz-bang tech stuff...

Honda makes one hell of a lawnmower. And the engine in my CTS is a BMW but i wouldn't trade an afternoon ride in my EL for either.

17 Years ago my buddy and I both needed lawnmowers - he bought a Honda and I bought a Sears mower with a Tecumseh engine. This guy took the mail order course and fixed mowers as a side line for years. His went into the garbage 11 years ago and my Sears mower is still like new and we both have equal sized lots. I've changed my air filter once and I've blown it out a few times and I change the oil about every two years. Don't think I'll be buying a Honda. Oh, and the Tecumseh motored mower I had before that (38 years ago) is still in use at my son's house cutting around trees and edging his country lot so the tractor can get the rest.

AHHHH Chuck, don't encourage this kind of stuff man! I had a salesman park his "Tuner" car in my driveway yesterday and I told him he couldn't come in till he moved that junk to the road.
