Just received my insurance application  for the monte from Crosslands, they apparently have a new carrier, Echelon General Insurance.

They demand payment by credit card or debit card only and you have to give them your card number, this gives them direct access to either your credit or your bank account.

They say you can check a box on the form for onetime use only.

1/ Is not cash legal tender?

2/ Are you going to give a stranger unlimited access to your finances?

3/ Does anybody have sugestions for reasonable alternatives?

Check the box use your credit card and take a copy or photo. The card company will have no  problem clawing a extra payment back. most times your on your own withdrawing from your bank account . It comes down to who is holding the cash, with a card you still have to pay. From the bank you have already payed.

I use Pay Pal or Electronic E-transfer     My credit card guarantees my purchases...

You have to trust someone     You going to send the cash in the mail ?

         Its 2015

I use Hagerty and set them up as a payee with my client number and pay them electronically and in less than a minute good to go for another year and I record the transaction number if needed down the road.

Lots of good ways to pay     Just take a minute and read the small print...   Classic car insurance seems to be a good deal   Until you have to use it

I wrote off m classic car insured with Hagerty and I was paid the agreed value less deductible in 3 weeks. Only thing I would suggest is that if you do many upgrades to the car uping the value on it that you get a new agreed value as I left it at the value of when I bought the car.
