Hi. It's nice to see at least some credit be given to these guys as they were somewhat of a legend back in the mid 60's in Brantford, Ontario. This car eventually was returned to the street and was known as AlleyOop if I remember correctly. If I also remember correctly someone by the name of McAllister owned it in about 1965-66 when it used to roll through the local A&W. Gary hung around with a man by the name of Bill Faragher who worked at, and still does, at Ludlow's Clothing, in Brantford. Bill ran an E Gas 55 Chev that Gary did a lot of the tuning on and it ran around 13 flat in 1966 with a 283. That car and the convertible are both somewhat restored to original according to Bill; unfortunately. Gary and Don went on to run an A Gas Anglia after the 55 and I haven't seen any pictures of it on the net to date although I'm sure they exist. Locally, none of the car guys, including the oldest car club in Ontario, ever refer to these guys which is really unfortunate. I'm 65 years old and remember and knew them well. It's great to see a picture that reflects those early years. Thanks a lot.

Just to add; after the 55 was sold Gary and Don built or bought a 41 Willys B gasser, which they raced for a couple of seasons then sold it to build the Anglia. The Anglia was originally a B gasser but that was short lived, then they had the 497 " injected BBC built to run in A/Gas. Both Gary and Donny worked very hard to be competitive and they were. Gary always said he wanted to go pro but it never happened. Life and responsibilities got in the way I guess.

Bill is alive and well, living in Brantford. He used to be my next door neighbor. He isn't interested in drag racing any more but always answered any questions I had. At one time he was the president of the Piston Pushers , the car held the Canadian national E.T. record, he was good friends with Garry Roung who built the engine. He told me to get the car to ET they ran a real stiff gear [ 5.14/ 5.38 ? ] and ran the rpm extremely high off the line and all the way down the track. sorry I don't remember exactly what rpm. Bill sold the car to someone out west.
