Tight budget so its going to be a bit ratty to get it on the road for now and upgrades as time goes on.
Most of the big stuff is done, rolling chassis is made, mid 60's 283 SBC with power glide, no drive shaft yet, ford 8" rear end (not ideal - I know, but the spring perches are already in place), fiberglass body - no bed.

Absolutely nothing wrong with an 8" or with running coil springs with shocks inside. A real "coil over" shock is truly nothing more than a shock inside a coil spring. Difference is probably just ease of installation and ride height adjustability (along with damping/rebound depending on the coil overs) with a 'real' coil over. Looks like a fun project. Good luck with it.
