I'm just wondering for my own entertainment just how far would you go for a car show put on for the type of car you own? If you own a Trans Am or a Vette or whatever.........how far you would travel to go to that Trans Am show or Vette show or Pinto only show? In the States some of these guys will travel 2,500 miles just to go to a show in a parking lot for their type of car.

Just wondering.biggrin

When I actually had a Nova done and on the road.....My brother and I would drive to the Nova Nationals which was in PA (8 hours away). We did that several years in a row. There are guys on the site that drive to the Atlantic Nats every year. Now that is a big drive.

I don't really have an interest in a 1make only show . For me the fun is the different personalities that go with the different makes. Love to see different makes and we are now seeing more bikes at shows and cruise nights. Just adds to the interest level. Ed

Took my Corvette on a cruise last Saturday . 812 kms.

Haliburton to Oakville to Thorald to Fort Erie to Niagara Falls to Niagara on the Lake and home to Haliburton.

Great day, 35 cars and some really nice people. Would do it again in a heart beat, it was a long driving day though.

I might go as far as Hemo43's place cause I know it would be a blast..for the cars all the same If was not within 10ks..I wouldn't go at all..They had a car show in town where I live to-day ..I never went..I was cutting grass. While they were sitting in the hot sun all for a bag of junk...I really just hate most car shows they are full of dip****s ..I just drive it.. I did not build a car to sit on my ass in a hot asphalt parking lots making small talk..life is too short ..

Everyone has their own preferences that's for sure. Not to try and change any ones minds but what my brother and I found at the Nova show was that it was an almost family atmosphere. Everyone had a common interest. Ben's been to the Camaro Nationals three times now and it is very similar in nature. Very friendly. Variety is the spice of life and cruising the cars is definitely what we build them for. It's all fun.

I flew to Oklahoma City using my air miles then rented a car and drove to Chickasha for a car meet myself and had a blast. Then the next year I drove down with a friend for the same meet. We found the best shall we say an off Broadway show that was packed with 95% ladies that were not interested in men. We got a real education how ladies act at a show that night and things were fine being from Canada.

I,m not really into car shows , But I do tow my drag car to 2 AMC specific events . National trails in Ohio 8 to 10 hrs , an St Thomas drag way approx. 3 hrs . Both events are a very friendly , but still competitive events . I didn,t even go to a car show , mixed stockers to rods to rats , that I axeually had to drive past on my way from house twice today ..77.

I wouldn't drive or travel ANY distance for a show like that. I find variety interesting .... I'm bored just THINKING about a one model, one body style, or one anything show. I would never even entertain the idea of going to a "just Mopar" or "just Ford" or "just GM" show, drags, whatever. Hey, but that's just me and you did ask biggrin

I'm bored if there are even two of the same model there. Even though everyone has their special like, variety is the spice of life.

I have a few friends, that drove to an all 32 Ford show in North Carolina. they drove from California..........37 cars showed up.............the adventure of the drive was the key.............

I saw Chevelle's around this weekend from at least 10 different states for the Chevelle Nationals meet in Niagara Falls NY, So lots of people travel for one car shows.............

Me, I like variety, the wife and I have driven to LA for the roadster show on Father's Day................7,000 miles in 23 days in her 38 Chevy. When we got there 1500 Roadsters, and 2000 mixed hot rods, customs in the secondary show. Oh yeah a full day of walking the swap meet too...............

Lots of variables involved. If I drove a brand X I would likely hit a show dedicated to just that type once or twice before the novelty wore off. How far away and the expenses involved would or could be a bigger determent. Camping is definitely out, (tent , sleeping bag and the like,) and security of the vehicle would be high on the list. So for distance....5 or 6 hours each way and time spent there would be enough for a day.

I have driven to Victoria BC for Deuce Days on the island twice. 750 32 fords all in one gorgeous place in front of the parliament buildings on the inner harbour. The drive there and back was the real thrill. 4 guys in hot rods running down the highway…priceless.
Mary and I went to Back to the Fifties in Minniappolis a few years ago and if you want variety you can't beat it. 11,500 cars on a square mile of huge shade trees in the state fairgrounds and just about 400,000 people by the end of the weekend Great show great cars and ALL the vendors were there.
We are heading to Syracuse this Thursday and looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.

Thanks for the input guys. I would most likely go a bit farther simply to see another Maverick or Comet just because there is so few left, it's still a thrill for me to see a new one.

I've driven to South Carolina for the Pontiac convention [ POCI] in 2005, Nomad nationals in Tenn. back in the 70's & will likely do a Avanti convention maybe next yr, depending on location. + I drive to West Virginia twice a yr for 2 "mixed' shows, June & Oct. Have to agree with 77, on politics in some clubs, POCI was a great convention as long as I stayed away from the " Win at all Costs" trophy hoarders & trailer Queen owners. Dropped out of that club the following yr.
