forums go up a down all the time ,
while I,m prob not on the super popular list , Here.s my story , been busy , spent some time at Billy Howards race engines . checked out some other local builds , 2 nights a week at chiro , city of barrie doing everything they can to hold up my garage addition project , 36 days so far plus 2 weeks my contractor mom had a heart attack . disputes with nosy neighbours . last two months been to Windsor , c untsville , owen sound , east end of torunna on parts and scavenging runs
readers digest version ... people get busy ... interest wanes . some times guys get a little pissy about some thing an step back a bit . you can usually tell when they disappear for a while , then kinda drop back by with a humourous post or a build up date post . ..77.

All right, let me attempt to explain this to you ..... pay close attention, it gets a little tricky at times.

The very first entry (which I reposted above) in this thread mentions a "Janice" (I'm going to assume that name belongs to a woman) and also mentions "Dave Scotsman" (I am going to go out on a limb and assume that name belongs to a man). I am also going to assume that the "Scotsman" part suggests he's from Scotland ....... hence the mention of a kilt. Sorry, that's all there is to it my paranoid little friend smile

It just seems like most (NOT ALL) of the members here are too old and pissed off at the world to have a decent conversation with. If a topic is not to their liking, or if things go off on a tangent they get they're colostomy bags in a knot. I actually liked Fatchuk's rants because he spoke the truth about how we all feel, and he will be missed. Would have been better to ban the whinners (BobT, Carl427)IMHO. Maybe Poncho will make me Moderator so I can clean this place up a bit.

I talked to a fellow who left here along with some who were band and are enjoying another site which I am not at liberty to say.

Yes there is some good joking around but this is the only form I'm on that off topic comments seems out of control. Most of the crap is from people who cannot gripe to others in person so they go on web sites.

A good moderator would contact these people and give them a chance to control their comments and if not they would be asked to leave. I have done that on my FB site for HenryJ's through PM's. Any web site needs members to make the effort of keeping worthwhile and I have sent some friends to look here but when they see the crap on here they said no way would they join.

The mod can also remove the crap from posts(might happen to mine)

Some sites do not allow comments on for sale forms, as that is another place people get carried away here. I don't care if your buddy's aunt's dog walker sold the same for less.

Now lets see what happens!

Hummm Some of these post are earely similar to another site I know of . Almost as if there is some intersite pot sturring going on. I had nothing to contribute to the other site because I wasn't interested in the accepted tone of the site, so I chose to leave it If you want to have a conversation about any subject that's cool whatever side you choose the problem starts when one starts throwing slurs and so called internet truths, then when someone objects they are told they have thin skin or no sence of humour. The whole idea of a debait is exchanging ideas not insults. Some belive everything they read on the internet as truths , some are interested in facts, others are just trying to stur the pot . Hotrodders aren't usually one dementual and have diverse opinions that's what makes this site interesting . Its going to be interesting to see how this works its self out we are a stubborne group of colostomy bag wareing, pissed off at the world old farts. Poncho tried and I can see why he shut it down but It should be maybe have one rule , talk about what you want but any one posting anything they wouldn't say on tv in there home town waring there address on a big sign around there neck, gets a time out . If you don't like something someone has to say don't read it . if you keep reading it .... its Harrys fault ? I don't agree with some things he says hell I skip over most of the rants but he is a friend and a hot rodder first your not going to find anyone normal here . If your looking for mainstream join the Nissan forum.

I guess it depends on what you concider normal. By definition a true hotrodder wanders outside the normal box, so having opinions different from what some here call normal shouldn't be a surprize. Its not that simple.......The Activeboard people expect a certain amount of decorum to be maintained on their sites, one of the reasons the language filter is in place on these types of forums. I am all for calling the government to task on how they screw things up too, but show some class and do it intelligently, without bringing in the sexual orientation stuff, religious rants etc. I made an Off Topic section if you are so inclined to do so, but people time and time again bring this garbage onto the main part of the board. This is a hot rodding forum, so please keep it that way....thanks

It takes atleast 2 or more people to have an argument . If you don't like something that someone says , on a Forum where no one can see each other or see their body language , it's best to stay out of it as has been said above . As someone who was in the " people business " for many decades , I learned about not arguing early on . You aren't going to win the battle anyhow ! It isn't just this forum ......I was on a model railroad forum full of quiet , old fart , grandpa , pipe smoking , church goers !? Ha ! They were like a bunch of geese half the time and the admin had to actually close the forum and reopen at a later date under a different name and then screened the hell out of everyone who joined the " new train forum " . There are folks who just like to bitch and complain and you won't change that . You can change yourself though by getting smarter about how and when you respond . Hey , we're ALL GETTING OLD ! Let's have fun !
