This area was warned about fake Tax Dept calls threatening to take you to court if you don't send money somewhere . Got mine today ........it starts off as an automated call telling you they are the CRA and to get your attorney etc. The phone number area on my call display was flashing " INCOMING CALL " with no number so I knew something was amiss . I was prepared to wait until the end and hopefully a person would come on whereby I had some rather choice words prepared . Unfortunately my wife picked up our extention and I didn't want to confuse her with what was going on , so I hung up ......they didn't phone back .

There is a rash of these calls in our area as well over 30 I belive . Report it to the cops as they have some kind of anti fraud thing set up . At least that's what there telling us in this area. There also have been a bunch of those" send money because some member of your family needs bail " type emails as well . No end to the crap is there. Ed

X2 on the tax calls around here from what i am hearing also.
I guess what I'm suggesting here is that others here might think about giving , particularly elderly , family and friends a heads-up about this . They seem to be the targets . About thirty years ago I worked for a company that handled and prepared taxes for small business people and their families . It was one of the most enjoyable but physically and mentally tiring jobs I've ever had . There were so many smart people that I met in my travel for 5 years but many were not tax savvy and that's where we came in . Government scared them . Those are the people who are most vulnerable in this latest scam . Actually I'm hoping they phone me again .....what I have to say will , uh, open their eyes and ears .

We are luckey around here, the cops the local radio stations and the local paper usually are very good about warning us about these type of computer scams as well as the phony furnace and water heater inspectors and they are pretty good at letting us store owners know about counterfeit money circulating. I guess its one of the percs of smalltowns, people actually looking out for eachother. Ed
I got the call from CRA , informed the local copd, they told me there is nothing they can do about it. Went to the dollar store and bought a pump air horn, when these calls come in I try for a live person. After a few pumps of the horn I get very few return calls, and I feel much better.
They are picking on old folks with the old " grandson in trouble , need money " scam again , too . People still fall for it or the bad guys wouldn't be doing it . Warn your relatives !
Get rid of your land line, cell phone only. Your basically off the grid and no nuisance calls.

Not necessarily agree with that, cuz I've gotten several calls from deals for airline tickets to me being the lucky winner of an all expense free trip..................................

If you have ever registered with a travel agency, an airline, a bank or some other company that you have done business with, you will still get calls, but it pretty well eliminates the chimney sweepers and the roof rollers. Since we have eliminated our land line, our nuisance calls are about 1%. Just sayin'
Looks like the OPP have unearthed fake text messages now ....another CRA scam ! You get a text message from a CRA site that looks good but is fake . It asks you to reply with a lot of personal stuff .
Doesn't affect me because I don't have one of these devices but I realize many people do .
Yup, just got 2 calls from an automated message this morning with a sand person on the other end. Wish I lived through the 50's when they didn't have this crap.
I've been getting the duct cleaning calls again, instead of hanging up on them right away, I now start babbling in something that I think sounds like Chinese (Mandarin?) .... they are the ones that hang up now and I get a chuckle out of it
