I guess I am in the market for a new opener for my shop. The power outage we had last week seems to have surged and fried the circuit board on my 2 1/2 year old Genie opener. I emailed Genie tech support and they feel it is the board since I cant seem to program it now. They will gladly sell me a new board for $150 or so.....if thats the problem, probably is.
Been looking online at whats best in openers and the Chamberlain brand seems to be highly rated. I have 8ft high doors, so I need an extension. Depending on what type I get, it will be between $300 and $400 or so.
My current unit is a Genie Powermaster 1500, 1hp, screw drive.....I dont care about noise, as the door tracks are noisy as hell anyways....lol
Suggestions on what type (chain, rubber belt or screw type).....What HP motor etc would be appreciated.
I use to have sears chain drive they were OK. We moved and now have a LIFTMASTER direct drive(goes right on the shaft) IMO this is the only way to go!!

Yes...they dont have it, eBay does, but at the same price in US bucks. There is a place in BC who will ship me one for about $135 Cdn. Probably the route I will go
Fords Rule ! If it ain't designed and manufactured in North America it sucks ! I don't do rice, pasta, fish and chips, sauerkraut, Ikea or other third world motor vehicle !
