Getting a little 'ticked' that the usual shows I attend are "jacking" the entrance fee!!! I'm considering not attending these anymore, as it's the car owner that has the investment, pays the insurance, + gas to go to show then "PAYS" again to get in while spectators walk in for free!!!! hey all say it's to support a charity, & increase is necessary to cover their costs, but a 100% increase has gone too far, Cruise inn's for me now, especially if I have a driver for other car too!!! Call me 'frugal" or cheap!!! getting out of hand????

And then on top of that the lodging is the part that bothers me. Roughly $130-$150 USD per night and then your car is parked in a lot on the other side of the building
Last show I went to the spectator parking lot filled up quickly, lots of people & baby strollers [ another worry] going up & down the rows. That's the show that put a note in 'goody bag" saying next yr. it will be double the entrance fee ??? BYE won't be there!!!!!!

Host your own car show. Get BBQ or smoker out. Put some coolies on ice. Invite your rodding buddies to come over with their cars and have a good time. Best car show I ever been too.
No rules, no goofs.

Real car Guys don't go to car shows . Not the small Mom and Pop ones anyway. It's not like it was years ago when you could see car that were built by some talented people. Now all I see is people parking their asses in cheap lawn chairs, and showing off their "old" car they just bought a week before. They have no clue as to what type of work and what parts are in their own car. Not saying all car show attendees fall into this group, but they seem to be the majority now. If you have a car, drive it ! That's what it was built for.
I do not do car shows as a rule. But I did do the Gilmore and Cobble Beach last year but I had an invite. Right now I am on a car tour in North Carolina for the week driving my car. We will be home late Sunday then off next Friday with a group on a tour around Smith Falls area. No interest in sitting in parking lot paying to let someone to look at my car and waiting to see if I won a plastic dust collector that means nothing the next day.
If someone tells me they do not want to drive their car that far I tell them they are in the wrong hobby.

I enjoy car shows. I enjoy different locations and getting to see many different people I don't get to see very often as work 6days gets in the way. Best of all all the so called real rodders , the ones that put everyone down who didn't touch every nut and bolt , aren't there as they are out every minute driving there cars. Well they are out driving all the time aren't they . A million miles a year or you aren't worthy . Good for you guys who don't like car shows I get it . we aren't worthy to wash the massive amount of road dust you accumulate driving your cars. I really don't give a rats ass if you do or don't go to a show or not but give it a rest, no one is going to pay you to show up no matter how wonderful you think your car is. I'll be at Golden Beach on Sunday donating to the volunteer fire department. Thank gawd the cool people will be out on there weekly driving marathon. Look me up if you choose to grace us with your attendence, I'll probably be talking with people or checking out the helocoptor rides or those brave enough to go parasailing or the displays or the stuff for sale or maybe just relaxing in my lawn chair surrounded by cool people and cool cars. Ed
Sorry Ed you are right. We all have a different idea of what to do with our finished projects. Thanks for bringing it to my attention and I will try and get to Port Hope Sat. evening this year at least one time.

I love going to the shows and talking with and meeting people...but yes the inflated hotel prices the week of any show really gets to me!

I agree I got sick of the sit in the chair folks who only get up for the 50/50 draw and then off to Timmies to sit some more
I do like a big event like Bothwell with a good show and flea market and food
Do enjoy the cruise nights and the people, last night at Baden, 4 young guys came to look at my car, 1st comment was oh, you lowered the valve covers, after explaining it was a flathead, they had all kinds of questions. Next 1 was, what does .080 over mean on your sign, in short, these kids were really interested in old cars, after about 20 min. when they were leaving, 1 young fellow, said thanks for talking to us mister, we learned a lot. Now that was a good night.
