Joe, I have to "pay" for my meds, but I see GM guys in the drug store pay some 'stupid" amount [$2.oo] & walk out the door, while I'm paying $ 125+?? So how is that "medical" paid by the Gov.

I guess early in life you shouldn't have made the stupid decision of becoming a truck driver with no benefits. Don't blame others for the mistakes you made. You also may want to ask your Doctor to increase the strength of your meds.wink

Belittle? not at all. I respect anyone that works hard to put food on their table whatever level of education or income. I have a problem with folks complaining when someone has it better than they do, and Dualquad is the poster child.

I agree, but this is a Canadian forum, and this is what we've become. It's pretty sad that all we have to talk about is legal issues, but it's because Canada, especially Ontario has become a police state. I frequent a few American automotive forums, and there's basically no talk about legal issues relating to our hobby.

All I was trying to get across is that the days of benefits, pension's & union protection for "doggers" is LONG GONE!!!!! I survived "Driving truck" but didn't get a 35,000 credit to buy a new car, or a "cake" when I lost my job after recession of 08 & lost my job, didn't even get a thank you for your service, but that's OK. Times are changing, & I guess if I'm " the poster boy" then so be it, but look around [ outside of your "Closed Union Protected work] & look at the "REAL WORLD!!!!Doubt you'd survive in that working environment !!!

All,

I'm no genius but Ill offer my prediction on where this will end.  GM will give the union the commitments they are looking for. They will commit to building the second line products in Canada.  (second line are the Regal, Impala, Equinox which are scheduled to become the poorest sellers).  The A line cars will built outside of Canada, likely Mexico.  Time will show declining sales of the models in Canada and the lines will take care of themselves.  Its the same strategy GM used in Detroit.  As a former fleet manager, I think they cut their own throat.  The vehicle quality was comparable to Ford/Chrysler but the dealer support we got from GM across Canada was deplorable.  At one point we actually recommended against GM product for Canadian fleets.

no (Bob) but those who are not are all to often hard to spot amoung the crowd

biggest problem with unions is the sence of entitlement that seems to go with them

I have a "friend" who works for the toronto parks dept

after the last strike they were working to catch up on what they missed during the strike

getting paid overtime to catch up what does the ass hat tell me

lol .. overtime for napping in the truck

almost , almost got a punch in the head that day

he has absolutely no sence of what working in the REAL WORLD is like for everyone else

and as any use , he's not
he's a tree inspector
- spends his day running the a/c in the truck non stop driving around looking at trees

he walked into my back yard a couple of years ago and says hey all your ash trees look ok
.. yeah , go on, "the bugs haven't got to them yet"

funny thing is .. they were already bleeping dead

yeah we get our money's worth outta that clown .. every bleepin day .. not

Well, when you're laying in your hospital bed, make sure you tell the Nurse that's taking care of you how you feel about Union labour. I'm sure she'll go the extra mile for you.blankstare

.. oh yes I did ...

and if you think getting paid overtime for napping in the XXXXXXX truck at the tax payer's expence is just fine then there's something wrong wit chew , not me "BUDDY"

I don't think it's fine, but you and others paint everyone with the same brush. You're gonna get slackers whether union or not.

But the union "slackers" have the union protecting their "A$$'s & fight to keep them in their JOB!!! Private "non union" sector, your OUT on your A$$ PDQ!! Not all union workers are "slackers" but the ones that are, sure take advantage of it, BTW I guess I've gone from "poster Boy" to an "IDIOT" Is that a promotion or de motion???

since it was brought up I'll add this

december of 2010 I took my father to the hospital the morning he was going in for an opperation to have part of his back fused as he had broken it when much younger and it had started to give him pain 50 years later
he was 81 at that time

he said to me don't bother coming back to see me tonight or tomorrow as I probably won't be much up for a visit anyways
so , when I showed up after waiting the day I saw just how he was doing

yep , he ALREADY after a day and a half , had contracted a nice dose of c-diff

grrrreat .. it took three months in the hospital before he got well enough to come home

3 or 4 years later I took him to the hospital as he was having another TCI

as he laid in his bed in the ICU , I noted the dust bunnies on the opperating lamp above him were about half an inch thick - no B S

so you can probably figure for yourself what I already think of our health care system and some , SOME of those who "opperate" it

be carefull who you try to provoke peterbill ,, you may just find yourself confronted with an educated responce ...

If you want me to take you as an educated person, learn to spell first, or are you going to blame your stupidity on the teacher's Union? This thread is going nowhere, I'm done.
