This one is puzzling ....got an email supposedly from Canada Post saying that they tried to deliver a package , there was nobody home , and that I should pick up the package within 3 days or it would be sent back .
They gave me a " tracking number " and suggested I open it . I clicked on to the number but it said I needed Windows Office so I deleted the whole thing .
I wondered why Canada Post wouldn't just hang a notice on the front door like they have in the past ? ....and how would they get my email?
I checked with the local Post Office and they referred me to Kitchener P.O. with an 800 number . Turns out the P.O. knows about it , it is a scam , and they will consider issuing a statement through the media if it gets bad . They would not say what was being looked for my the e-mailers but did comment that the Canada Post logo on the email was a pretty good copy of the real one .
I normally do just delete anything I'm not familiar with ( Royal Bank scam etc ) but I was expecting something in the mail so did click on to the supposed Post Office e-mail ....shoulda right clicked on for sender and properties but deleted the whole thing .
I got the same thing about three weeks ago. Canada Post hasn't delivered to my home in the last 45 years I've been here, couldn't really see why they would start now. Only thing they got was the "big delete". But your right, it does look pretty real.
Funny you brought this up, sweety and I share a Hotmail account, we received an email that indicated we had a traffic infraction and would have to pay 598 dollars, so I called Halton police to see if it was legit, I thought mayby traffic cam or photo radar, not, she said its a scam. Be carefull out there,,,Jim.

Yup, that one's going around, got it here too. Same nonsense with banking e/mails.
Got another one during the night from"Canada Post". Same BS as before, if these guys would work this hard at a real job, they would likely do pretty well. Gave it the big delete.
My wife clicked on an interesting posting on Facebook (doesn’t recall what it was) and it downloaded some kind of “program”, supposedly from Microsoft, that took over my Firefox. We got a steady loud beeping and a voice telling us they had detected an attack on our computer that was downloading our credit card and banking info, and we must contact them or they would have to suspend our internet service to “protect” us. I couldn’t get rid of this thing even with rebooting. I use a good tech guy who cleaned it up but it was scary. I use Windows 7. I’m getting to hate Facebook with all its unsolicited garbage – time to do a cleanup.
they best security is dial-up, you can't get face book, youtube or stuff like that. it is so slow the russians send me floppy discs by snail mail. I can't read russian but I think it means "please install this virus quickly so we can infect your computer and skew the US elections".
Firefox 2.0 Rules !
